Everyone here at the Foundation is very pleased with the support that is building for Rouge Valley Health System's Surgical Program. For a snapshot of what's happening, just take note of a few items in this edition of Community Giving.
Along with a remarkable bequest made through the Will of Dr. Ronald Osborne, we have enjoyed great support for and from our surgical staff, with more than 40 participants in the recent Scotiabank Waterfront Marathon choosing to run for the Rouge Valley team, raising an amazing total of more than $10,000!
As well, we recently celebrated our Seeing is Believing campaign, to bring new equipment to our Plastics and Reconstruction program, with an exclusive event at the de luca fine art gallery in Toronto.
Look here in the weeks and months ahead for more announcements of opportunities to support the surgical program at your community hospital. We are excited to be able to build on the great work our amazing surgeons are doing, by bringing them state-of-the-art medical equipment that enables them to provide the best patient experience possible.
Sincerely,
Chad Hanna, President & CEO, Rouge Valley Health System Foundation

Run Rouge Run!
On Sunday, October 19, more than 40 Rouge Valley physicians, nurses, staff and friends took part in the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon.
Members of Team Rouge were cheered along as they walked or ran one of the different events, in the 5km, half or full marathons. In addition to this day being a great sporting event, Team Rouge also raised more than $10,000 for Rouge Valley's Surgical Program.
Spearheaded by PACU nurses Leanne and Sandra, this is the first year that Rouge Valley has been an official charity of the event. Both nurses ran the half-marathon and were proud of the support from their colleagues. "It brought me together with these guys; it kept growing and I'm really proud of them and I'm proud of this hospital," says Leanne. See more pictures of the event here.

Firefighters put best boot forward
The annual Pickering Professional Firefighters Boot Drive was held Oct. 4, collecting donations to support Rouge Valley Ajax and Pickering hospital.
This annual fundraising event sees teams of firefighters and volunteers stationed at various mall exits in Pickering for most of the day, greeting motorists as they come and go, accepting any and all cash donations. The funds from this year's Boot Drive will help bring a portable mini c-arm x-ray machine to RVAP's Surgical Program. See the photos from the day here.

BRA Day returns
BRA Day (Breast Reconstruction Awareness)is an initiative designed to promote education, awareness and access for women who may wish to consider post-mastectomy breast reconstruction.
This surgery is performed at Rouge Valley Health System and both sites of RVHS hosted a display by representatives of Allergan Canada - a health care company that produces, among many things, implants used in breast reconstruction - to educate the public and staff about the procedure.
Pictured: Carole Chan, (second from right) Marketing Manager for Allergan, spoke with RVAP OR nurses Jean, Theresa and Kiera, who were wearing their BRA Day pink gloves.
