Last week the Mayors' Charity Golf Classic was a total success. Although a little chilly, we were fortunate the rain held off and in all, 148 golfers enjoyed a great day on the course at Cherry Downs.
You will read below how we topped all expectations and raised an outstanding total this year, but I would like to take a moment to thank everyone who made it possible. The organizing committee for this event is a dynamic group who put a lot of time and effort into making the Classic better every year. The volunteers, Foundation staff and the people at Cherry Downs all did a great job to make it a wonderful day for our guests. And finally, the sponsors and hospitality hosts at various holes contributed to making this one of the best Classics we've ever held.
To each and every person involved, thank you for your generous support. Thanks to you, Rouge Valley Ajax and Pickering hospital will soon have a new C-arm portable scanner to help provide the best care to our patients.
Sincerely,
Chad Hanna, President & CEO, Rouge Valley Health System Foundation

 Truly a classic
The orthopaedic and plastic surgeons of Rouge Valley Ajax and Pickering hospital are well on their way to new technology that will change the lives of many patients thanks to the 2014 Mayors' Charity Golf Classic, with $150,000 raised this year toward a C-arm portable scanner.
Event co-chairs, Jim Witty and Bill Collier, announced the Classic has now reached a total of more than $2.7 million raised for Rouge Valley Ajax and Pickering hospital, in 19 years.
There were a number of tributes in honour of Mr. Collier who stepped down from the organizing committee, having been with the group since he helped found the tournament 19 years ago.

The late Ron Halliday named to Howard Sokolowski award
The Mayors' Charity Golf Classic is also an opportunity for the Rouge Valley Health System Foundation to announce the recipient of the Howard Sokolowski Award, presented annually to an individual who has shown great dedication to health care in the community.
This year's recipient is the late Ron Halliday, who up until his death in April of this year, had been a dedicated and generous volunteer and supporter of countless Rouge Valley Ajax and Pickering hospital activities and fundraising campaigns. Created in 2001, the award honours Howard Sokolowski and his long and distinguished history of volunteer service for Rouge Valley Ajax and Pickering hospital.
