At the end of June, the Rouge Valley Health System Foundation held its Annual General Meeting, as well as its final Board of Directors meetings, to complete our fiscal year. It was a busy day, but a fruitful one.
As a result, I am pleased to share with you some important news. First of all, the Foundation enjoyed a successful year and is in a good position going into the fall when we will embark on another season of fundraising to support local health care for the many people in the communities who rely on Rouge Valley Health System for care.
Secondly, of note for the Foundation, we are pleased to welcome two new members to the Board of Directors. Wayne Cassidy accepted his nomination and Peter Lobraico has rejoined the Board, having been a founding member of the first Foundation board in 1989.
You will read more about that in this edition of Community Giving, as well as learning more about two special events being held in support of Rouge Valley this summer.
As always, thank you for your continued and generous support.
Sincerely,
Chad Hanna, President & CEO, Rouge Valley Health System Foundation

Day at the Races needs volunteers
The Foundation could use a few good men, and women, to help us out with the Free Family Fun Day at the Races, on Sunday, Aug. 17 at Ajax Downs.
We need volunteers to help make cotton candy, hand out hot dogs and pop, direct hundreds of families and hand out crafts and loot bags. It's a fun day with a number of popular activities and thousands of people having a great time while enjoying the race track.
Be a part of the fun and help your community hospital! Funds support Rouge Valley Ajax and Pickering hospital's children's health program. Contact Emily at emoorhouse@rougevalley.ca or 905-683-2320 ext. 1501.

Two new YouTube videos produced by Rouge Valley Health System (RVHS) show how initiatives and integrations at RVHS are helping to improve patient care. The videos, featuring staff and patients, tell the story of how the initiatives - Rouge Valley's new bed map, and the integration of mental health services between Rouge Valley Health System and Durham Mental Health Services (DMHS) - are helping to better connect patients to services both in hospital and in the community. Viewers can watch each of the videos by visiting the Rouge Valley YouTube channel.
