Are you going to M*A*S*H Bash next week? I really hope you are, because this is not only a celebration of an iconic TV show, it's a celebration of 60 years of Ajax and Pickering's hospital!

The organizing team behind this has pulled out all of the stops and it is going to be a great party for anyone who cares about their community hospital and about having a great time!

Tickets are still available, as are the M*A*S*H Bash T-Shirts and Dog Tags, but only in limited amounts, so act fast.

To find out more, visit our M*A*S*H Bash website or Facebook event page. And I look forward to seeing you on May 10 at the Ajax Community Centre.

Sincerely,

Chad Hanna

Find out why our Dr Nanda operating room
surgical team loves the
Bed Race

When the Bed Race takes off again on May 23, there will be several trophies up for grabs. One of the most coveted is the Hospital Cup, with RVHS staff competing to be the best team in the field. Check out the video at right to hear from Dr. Arvind Nanda, Head of General Surgery at RVC, about how the funds are used to buy a new operating table this year and what that means to patient comfort and safety.

Get in on the action! Lace up your running shoes or high heels, get your team theme, and most of all get registered right away. Then you can start reaching out to friends and colleagues for pledges to help bring a new operating table to Rouge Valley Centenary hospital's surgical program!

Visit www.bedrace.ca for all of the details. Take a moment to like the Bed Race Facebook Page and keep up to date on all of the Bed Race news in the weeks ahead!
M*A*S*H Bash!

Two members of the M*A*S*H Bash team visited Rogers TV to be interviewed on Daytime, recently. Click here to see Gary Strange and Tom Batchellor, representing both Ajax and Pickering's Rotary Clubs, as they did an amazing job telling everyone in Durham about the great time we're going to have on May 10, at the Ajax Community Centre.

We're also appreciative of the morning crew at Durham Radio's CKDO where they have been celebrating the event with M*A*S*H Mondays, with Terry, Sam and Rob (pictured at right) giving M*A*S*H trivia and Terry getting set to emcee the big night.

Get your tickets soon, they are going fast!

Meet Bipper Man

Marsha Jones-Dooley of Jones-Dooley Insurance Brokers, had the help of the Bipper Man to deliver 70 beautiful and comfortable blankets for Rouge Valley Health System staff to give to long-term patients at Rouge Valley Ajax and Pickering hospital. The blankets come from the local broker and the Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario.

Pictured, from left: Bipper Man and Ms. Jones-Dooley with Danielle DeLuca, accepting the blankets on behalf of the Foundation.

Miles and miles
of heart

When it comes to the Rouge Valley Health System's Cardiac Rehab team, it is a marvel to behold what they can accomplish with the amazing energy level their staff and volunteers bring to everything they do. Such is the case with the 2014 Walk with Heart, which once again 'wowed' everyone who attended on April 26 at Rouge Valley Centenary's 11th Floor rehab centre, reaching their goal of $100,000 again this year!

Read more about the event and find a link to more pictures here.
Kids helping kids

Students from Roméo Dallaire Public School visited the paediatrics unit at Rouge Valley Ajax and Pickering hospital recently to drop off toys for children there for care.

The students were learning about philanthropy and they chose to support the hospital and an animal shelter. Staff of the paediatrics unit were happy to show the kids around and accept the gifts.
Paris's cause

Nine-year-old Paris Wilson of Ajax is making pink bracelets to raise money for breast cancer "so people don't die from it" she explains. "I am concerned about breast cancer because somebody I love had it, and that's why I want to support the cause."

Paris is donating her fundraising to help cancer patients at Rouge Valley Health System and you can help. The pink bracelets are $4 and can be bought at the following location: The Competitive Edge, 377 Mackenzie Ave, Units 13 & 14, 905-619-6600, or by contacting her parents at the following email addresses: Natalie Wilson: ntwinteriors@gmail.com or Nigel Wilson: Nigelwilsonsedge@gmail.com.

Rouge Valley Health System (RVHS) and Durham Mental Health Services (DMHS) have integrated client services to better support people in the community.

Thanks to new funding from the Central East Local Health Integration Network (Central East LHIN), Rouge Valley is able to transfer funds for a new full-time nurse to work with mental health patients in the community.
