As we emerge from one of the longest winters in memory, I'm happy to encourage everyone to take part in a heart-warming event later this month. Walk with Heart is a special fundraiser for the Cardiac Rehab team at Rouge Valley and they make this 'walk-a-thon' a great time for everyone.

Entertainment and music, combined with enthusiastic staff and volunteers make the event better and better every year. So visit the Walk with Heart website to learn how you can take part or support this important program.

They have an ambitious goal to raise $100,000 again this year, to enhance the program and better serve their patients, and with your help they can do it!

Sincerely,

Chad Hanna

Rouge after Dark

Everyone at Rouge Valley Health System is excited for the success of this year's Foundation Gala, Rouge after Dark!

Thanks to the generosity of volunteers, sponsors and guests, two GreenLight Lasers will be purchased, one each for Rouge Valley Centenary and Rouge Valley Ajax and Pickering hospitals. These machines will make a big difference in the lives of so many men in the years ahead and it is highlighted in a special video created for the gala, now available to be viewed online. Click on the video image at right to view for yourself.

Written, directed and featuring Rouge Valley's own Dr. Zak Klinghoffer, starring Friend of the Foundation, Rocky Varcoe of Class Act Dinner Theatre, the video is a fun and funny look at a serious problem men face due to enlarged prostate.

To see all of the fun from this year's gala, visit the photo gallery at rougegala.ca for links to hundreds of images captured on March 28.
Letna's brunch wows again!

Letna Allen-Rowe enjoyed the success of her first Healing Hope Brunch so much that she decided to bring even more hope to the staff, doctors and patients of Rouge Valley Centenary hospital's (RVC) Oncology Unit, by bringing the event back for a second time.

This year's Healing Hope Brunch featured a fantastic lineup of entertainment, with music, dancing, host Marcia Brown, a fashion show and even a couple of special guest speakers from RVC's surgical team, who shared their knowledge on cancer care.

Pictured: Ms. Letna thanked everyone for supporting the event.

M*A*S*H Bash
ready to fly
on May 10

Durham Regional Police Service is all set to support the upcoming M*A*S*H Bash 60th Anniversary party for Rouge Valley Ajax and Pickering hospital and they allowed a group of M*A*S*H Bashers to use the Air-1 helicopter for a promo photo shoot this week.

Set for May 10 at Ajax Community Centre, look for a fun night of M*A*S*H hijinks, police and military memorabilia and great music and dancing. Visit the Foundation website for details and contact info to arrange for your tickets.

Bringing comfort
to kids in hospital

Recently we were visited by our friends from Scarborough Town Centre who brought with them more than 60 stuffed toys for our Paediatric program.

Held March 20 this year, STC has been celebrating International Day of Happiness for the past couple of years and decided to bring the gift of "happiness" to our young patients this year. Thank you STC!

A new paediatric clinic is helping to provide relief to young patients.

The paediatric constipation clinic recently opened at Rouge Valley Centenary's (RVC) Galaxy 12 clinic in Scarborough. In total, 12 different paediatric specialty clinics are based at RVC. The clinic is the only one of its kind in the Greater Toronto Area that deals specifically with paediatric constipation issues, and provides the assessment and management of constipation for young patients, who range from infants to children up to 18 years of age.

To read more about the clinic, visit www.rougevalley.ca.
