Heart of it All
Greetings!

February may be over, but the memories of this year's To Rouge with Love cocktail parties are still fresh in our minds.

I want to personally thank the cardiologists and staff of Rouge Valley Health System's highly-respected Cardiac Care Program for supporting and speaking at these events each year. Not only were the events successful for the generous donations guests made, it was a wonderful opportunity for these people to learn about what this team has already accomplished and what it is set to achieve in the months ahead.

We are very fortunate to have such a talented team of cardiologists at Rouge Valley and I think the hosts and guests of To Rouge with Love  events each year understand the value in helping advance this life-saving work. Thank you to everyone for your continued support.

From Rouge With LoveAnd once again, allow me to offer another reminder of the amazing Foundation gala, From Rouge with Love that takes place on March 22. If you haven't made plans to join us at Muzik Nightclub in Toronto for this tribute to 50 years of James Bond movies, it's not too late to ensure your tickets, but time is running out! Follow this link to find out how.

 Best regards,

Chad Hanna

Walking for a walkathon 2013
good cause

The Rouge Valley Health System Foundation (RVHSF) is very fortunate that on Family Day, Feb. 18, the Scarborough Muslim Community and the Save Family Values groups chose to support patient care at Rouge Valley Centenary hospital by dedicating their walkathon fundraising to the Heart of it All campaign.

The Family Day Walkathon took place at the Scarborough Civic Centre and organizers were excited to support the campaign to bring new echocardiogram machines to RVC, to help advance the hospital's well-respected Cardiac Care Program. On March 1, representatives presented the event's proceeds to the campaign and were given a chance to see the new machines and hear how they save lives from campaign Co-Chair, Dr. Paul Galiwango. See all of the pictures from the event here

Cardiac Care in To Rouge 2013
the spotlight

To Rouge with Love, a series of cocktail parties and events intended to raise funds to help purchase essential cardiac equipment returned for a third year this February.

The events again supported the Heart of it All campaign, to bring new echocardiogram machines to Rouge Valley Health System hospitals. Held over the course of February, National Heart Month, each event hosts a special guest from Rouge Valley Health System's exceptional cardiac team, to explain why the equipment is so important and needed, as well as how it is used. An overview of the regional cardiac program is also presented.

Pictures from February's events can be found here.

Events to support the cardiac care program continue throughout the year and if you wish to be involved or to host your own garden party or cocktail party, please contact Roselyn Sagar-Lal at rsagar-lal@rougevalley.ca.

Give old coins new life

Our great volunteers at Rouge Valley Centenary hospital and Rouge Valley Ajax and Pickering hospital are collecting pennies to support all of their fundraising activities. So even though the smallest value currency is no longer accepted in stores, it still has value for our volunteers!

You are encouraged to bring your penny collections to either hospital and drop them off at the volunteer information booths. As of this week, the penny drive by the Auxiliary to Rouge Valley Ajax and Pickering hospital is still climbing and has gone over $1,000!

All of Rouge Valley's volunteers are very appreciative of your support and hope you will continue to bring in your pennies!

Surgical followup offered over Skype

A new program offered for surgical programs at Rouge Valley Health System (RVHS) is allowing patients to get the follow-up care they need from the comfort of their own home. skype

Patients who have had surgery at either of the hospital's two hospital campuses - Rouge Valley Centenary (RVC) in east Toronto and Rouge Valley Ajax and Pickering (RVAP) in Durham Region - can choose to have their post-surgery follow-up appointment via Skype, a popular software application that allows users to make voice and video calls over the Internet. The appointment is with a nurse from the hospital's pre-operative assessment clinic in the ambulatory care unit (ACU) at RVAP.
