Heart of it All
Greetings!

It is an exciting time of year for the Foundation as we announce details of our annual Rouge Valley gala celebration, with a special new event planned this March, one that we call From Rouge with Love.

From Rouge With LovePerhaps you were expecting a traditional gala? No, we have something entirely different in mind for you this year. In homage to 50 years of James Bond movies, From Rouge with Love promises to be a thrilling and stylish event for our special guests to enjoy.

With an exciting new venue, we are making this a truly unique and special night that you will not want to miss. Make plans to join us at Muzik Nightclub in Toronto at 7 p.m., on March 22, to enjoy fine food, exciting entertainment and many surprises that will make this our most amazing gala yet.

 Best regards,

Chad Hanna

up Heart of it All

Thank you to everyone who took part in this year's annual Ajax Polar Bear Swim, and all of the supporters who cheered them on and generous donors who made a gift to the Heart of it All campaign.

Peter Gos, Bob Murray and Eric Novak once again put together a great event with hundreds of people on the beach at Ajax's Paradise Park on New Year's Day. There was a record crowd this year, but organizers say the swim is still hoping for more support to help reach its fundraising goal. As Eric says, "please consider making an online donation as a show of support for the wonderful craziness that this event embodies".

See the fun for yourself in an excellent youtube video here.

Video games ease National Post Video Games
kids' hospital visits

Once again, the National Post's Financial Post Tech Desk editor, Matt Hartley, collected new and used video games for children's hospitals and paediatric centres across Canada, in his annual Hartley's Video Game drive for Kids before Christmas.

The Rouge Valley Health System hospital's were among the lucky recipients of games for kids. Games of all ages and for each game system console were donated and staff in the paediatric departments of Rouge Valley Ajax and Pickering and Rouge Valley Centenary hospitals were pleased to accept the games, which are put to good use by young patients.

From the Foundation, thank you to Mr. Hartley for including Rouge Valley again, for the second year now, among nine hospital systems across Canada the game drive supports.

St. Malachy and St. MalachyMcDonald's support Buy a Bed campaign

The students of St. Malachy Catholic School recently presented a cheque to the Foundation from their successful Buy a Bed Campaign fundraiser night at McDonald's.

With the support of Dale and Sandy Bartlett, owners of the McDonald's at Port Union and Kingston roads, the school was able to present a cheque for $350, shared by the school and the Buy a Bed campaign. Thank you to Dale, Sandy and the kids for their generous support!

You're leaving your money to whom?

Did you know that 92% of Canadians pay more money to Revenue Canada at death than they have to?  Did you know that only 8% of Canadians take the time to learn that by leaving a charitable bequest in their Will, they will actually leave more money for their loved ones and pay less money to the tax man.

How would you like to be a member of the 8% and leave more money to your loved ones?

Please know that your donations support patient care at Rouge Valley and make a difference in the lives of your friends and neighbours. If you would like to become a part of our Planned Giving program, to make a lasting difference and take advantage of tax and financial benefits for you and your family, visit our blog, Foundation Chat to read the story in its entirety, or email Planned Giving Director Mary Slavik at mslavik@rougevalley.ca to request "A Guide to Planning Your Will" or "Ways to Give".

New technology heart of it all news
puts RVHS at the forefront of Cardiac Care

When Rouge Valley Health System (RVHS) puts new echocardiogram machines into use, and that time is very near, not only will the best doctors have access to state of the art equipment to provide the best possible care, they will be able to do so easier than ever before.

"Rouge Valley can really be proud of this advancement," explains Dr. Paul Galiwango, manager of Cardiac Imaging at RVHS. "We will be at the forefront of cardiac imaging technology. There are some teaching hospitals that don't have this level of technology available to them."
