Greetings!
I hope you are enjoying a wonderful fall season. With the Santa Claus parades in Ajax and Pickering coming up quickly, Nov. 10 this year, the holidays are top of mind for us here at the Foundation, as we prepare a float to participate in these two great community events. With that holiday favourite coming up quickly, I'm sure some of you are already looking ahead to November and making plans for holiday parties and staff social events at work.
If that is the case, and you are looking for a way to make your holiday party that much more meaningful, why not add a charitable component to your party this year? Whether through a toy drive or collecting cash donations, we here at the Foundation would appreciate your support as we provide toys to children that are in hospital during the holidays and continue our mission to purchase leading-edge equipment for Rouge Valley Health System.
If you have any questions about how to go about supporting the hospital through your event, please don't hesitate to contact us. We would be glad to discuss the possibilities and help in any way we can.
Best regards, Chad Hanna, President & CEORouge Valley Health System Foundation

Lush family present a $100,000 gift to Foundation
A special gift celebration made this year's Legacy of Care Society annual recognition evening an extra-special event when the Lush family presented a gift from the estate of the late Sheldon Lush. "Shelly", as he was affectionately known, had a long history of association with Centenary Health Centre and Rouge Valley Centenary. His father was the second chairman of the Centenary Board and was instrumental in finding the site for the hospital. Shelly sat on the Centenary hospital board of directors from 1988 until 1994, and set a leadership example by making a personal pledge to the Expect the Extraordinary capital campaign in 1998 while on the Foundation Board. He was also an inaugural member of the Legacy of Care Society. Boot drive enjoys beautiful weather, generous drivers
The Rouge Valley Health System Foundation worked alongside the Pickering Professional Firefighters Assoc. at their annual boot drive at various malls throughout the City of Pickering, Oct. 13, collecting funds for Rouge Valley Ajax and Pickering hospital.
Last year, the Firefighters were able to raise $15,000 towards the campaign. Look for an announcement on the totals for this year's drive at a later date once they have had time to pool all of the donations. Toys and books help kids cope with hospital stay
When children need care at Rouge Valley Ajax and Pickering hospital, staff in different units have the luxury of offering a new stuffed toy or book to help their young patients be more comfortable. Recently Delta Bingo and the Rotary Club of Ajax donated items to the hospital that have been distributed as needed to paediatrics, emergency and the fracture clinic. If you would like to donate new stuffed toys or books and games, contact Heather Montague at 905-683-2320, ext. 1501 or email hmontague@rougevalley.ca. Praise for great care received at RVC
We love receiving notes of appreciation from some of our donors when they send us a tribute donation. This message came to us recently. included with a gift to the hospital: "This donation is in tribute to the great care my wife received at Rouge Valley Centenary hospital. She had knee replacement surgery performed by Dr. Kaminker, and from pre-op to the four days of post-op care, everyone from the secretary to the nurses to the doctor was caring and very efficient. They listened when we had a concern, and were interested and attentive to my wife's progress. Thank you!" - A grateful patient. When you make a gift in someone's honour, the Foundation sends them a card passing along your words of thanks, as well as acknowledging your generosity to Rouge Valley. To find out more, go online to www.rougevalley.ca/rvhsf or call 905-683-2320, ext. 1501, 416-281-7342.
