Dave Boutette
The special intimacy that only comes from sharing firelight is where Dave Boutette finds his home. Songs of highway hijinks and wildcat oil drillers in the Michigan woods are as likely to be heard as old favorites that have been in your head and heart for years. For Boutette, it's the sharing of songs that holds all the magic. Whether banging out a set of saloon songs at a Michigan watering hole, or settling back for an evening of singing at a fire ring afterward, Dave Boutette will hold listeners as long as they keep the lights on or until the rain starts. Stories, advice, observations, or raffles are as apt to appear during a performance as are his songs. Blending many schools of American roots and popular music including folk, blues, swing, and old time country, his songs testify to the power of true love, rebirth, snow plows, and migrating fish. If you get the chance, stand next to Dave. Besides feeling taller than you actually are, you may start to see some things in an entirely new light! http://daveboutette.net

Red Letter Revolution: What If Jesus Really Meant What He Said?
(Hardcover)
By Shane Claiborne, Tony Campolo
Instore Only
List Price: $22.99
Our Price: $16.09
(Save: $6.90 30%)
For all the Christians facing conflict between Jesus' words and their own lives, for all the non-Christians who feel they rarely see Jesus' commands reflected in the choices of his followers, "Red Letter Revolution" is a blueprint for a new kind of Christianity, one consciously centered on the words of Jesus, the Bible's "red letters."
Framed as a captivating dialogue between Shane Claiborne, a progressive young evangelical, and Tony Campolo, a seasoned pastor and professor of sociology, "Red Letter Revolution" is a life-altering manifesto for skeptics and Christians alike. It is a call to a lifestyle that considers first and foremost Jesus' explicit, liberating message of sacrificial love.
Shane and Tony candidly bring the words of Jesus to bear on contemporary issues of violence, community, Islam, hell, sexuality, civil disobedience, and twenty other critical topics for people of faith and conscience today. The resulting conversations reveal the striking truth that Christians guided unequivocally by the words of Jesus will frequently reach conclusions utterly contrary to those of mainstream evangelical Christianity.
If the Jesus who speaks to you through the Gospels is at odds with the Christian culture you know, if you have ever wanted to stand up and say, "I love Jesus, but that's not me," "Red Letter Revolution" will prove that you are not alone--you may have been a Red Letter Christian all along.
The Toltec Path of Transformation: Embracing the Four Elements of Change
(Paperback)
By Heather Ash Amara, Vicki Noble
List Price: $16.95
Our Price: $11.87
(Save: $5.09 30%)
Change is a constant, defining characteristic of life.
Seasons change, weather changes, leaves change, and so do people. In HeatherAsh Amara's "The Toltec Path of Transformation: Embracing the Four Elements of Change," we are encouraged to embrace the changes in our lives and create the kind of change that we want to see in ourselves and our world.
The Four Elements: air, fire, water and earth--all carry specific properties and functions that can lead to a complete life transformation along the Toltec path.
Air represents our mental body, and grants clear perceptions once we shift our focus from the negativity surrounding us to the love and gratitude that lie just below the surface.Fire, the energetic body, gives us the opportunity to clean out the agreements, behaviors and beliefs that no longer serve us, so that we can make room for new, beneficial connections.Water, the emotional body, encourages us to open to new things, people and experiences. By staying open, we can gracefully accept what life brings while still working to create our own changes.Earth, the physical body, acts to nourish us from the inside out, proving again that both beauty and health start from within.
It is through HeatherAsh's carefully composed instruction and guidance that we can use the Four Elements of Change to navigate the Toltec Path into our Divine center, where comparison and judgment drop away, and we can meet ourselves as the beautiful beings that we were meant to be.

From the Forest: A Search for the Hidden Roots of our Fairytales
(Hardcover)
By Sara Maitland
List Price: $28.00
Our Price: $19.60
(Save: $8.40 30%)
Fairy tales are one of our earliest cultural forms, and forests one of our most ancient landscapes. Both evoke similar sensations: At times they are beautiful and magical, at others spooky and sometimes horrifying. Maitland argues that the terrain of these fairy tales are intimately connected to the mysterious secrets and silences, gifts and perils.
With each chapter focusing on a different story and a different forest visit, Maitland offers a complex history of forests and how they shape the themes of fairy tales we know best. She offers a unique analysis of famous stories including Rapunzel, Hansel and Gretal, Snow White, Little Red Riding Hood, Rumplestiltskin, and Sleeping Beauty. Maitland uses fairy tales to explore how nature itself informs our imagination, and she guides the reader on a series of walks through northern Europe's best forests to explore both the ecological history of forests and the roots of fairy tales. In addition to the twelve modern re-tellings of these traditional fairy tales, she includes beautiful landscape photographs taken by her son as he joined her on these long walks.
Beautifully written and impeccably researched, Maitland has infused new life into tales we've always thought we've known.
