ADDP's Second Training in its Employment Series

ADDP is hosting a training to share innovative ideas on designing Community-Based Day Supports (CBDS) programs for adults with developmental disabilities. This topic is perfect timing given engineers behind Employment Blueprint for Success predict a majority of individuals exiting sheltered workshops, which are subject to close sometime between June 30, 2015 and December 31, 2015 - dependent upon funding, will enter into CBDS as a program that will offer a "pathway to employment" in the community.

By attending this training, you will hear from several providers in the field how they developed their CBDS programs, which is built upon a framework of community integration, self-determination, and skill development. You will hear how agencies have done the following:

  • Worked with families and individuals to create their programs
  • Designed program tracks around common interest areas, while also allowing individual choice and meeting individual service plan (ISP) goals

Some areas of discussion will include career exploration and preparation, daily living and interpersonal skill development training, community integration and activities, relationship building with the community, recreation, and pursuit of individual hobbies.

Two breakout topics include: (a) creating lesson plans and (b) community mapping and networking.

You do not want to miss this opportunity to hear from and network with your colleagues on CBDS.
