Trending Now...

The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office (RCO) is revising the state's strategic plan for outdoor recreation. Your input is crucial to understanding what's important to include in the plan. We created the 'SCORP Town Hall' Web site at www.scorpwa.wordpress.com where you can quickly share your views. Everyone who is interested in recreation should have an opportunity to participate.  View results of the general population survey.

Attention Metropolitan Park Districts:

The Joint Select Committee on Junior Taxing Districts, Municipal Corporations, and Local Government Finance next meeting is November 26.

As the committee continues its work to consider potential consolidation of junior taxing districts-including park districts- WRPA is encouraging our members to contact legislators on the committee to underscore the good work, focus and purpose behind their local park districts. The main message to convey is:  Park districts are operating in a focused and efficient manner and there is no value in consolidating or eliminating them-please do not include this in the committee's recommendations.

The 2012 Biennial State Land Acquisition Forecast Report  is the second Biennial Report published by the State Habitat and Recreation Coordinating Group.  This report is published in even numbered years and provides information about state land purchases and disposals that are being planned around the state.

Terri Arnold, Director, South Whidbey Park & Recreation District is relocating to the East Coast and has accepted a position as Park and Recreation Director and Assistant Town Manager for Middlebury, Vermont.
