When graduation time rolls around, books come to front of mind as gifts for a big reason.  Whether you choose one that is full of advice, laughs, history, or inspiration, they all say "this is information I want you to have.  I care about you."  You try to say it without sounding too preachy or too much like a cheerleader, which is why we let professionals do it for us.

If you would like to gift a classic, check out authors like Mark Twain, Michel de MontaigneSeneca, or Lao Tzu because good advice is eternal. If you are looking for something new, here are some great books that send a firm, confident and cheerful message:

Smarter, Faster, Better by Charles Duhigg
Charles Duhigg has released his newest book of groundbreaking ideas.  In The Power of Habit, Duhigg explained why we do things.  In his newest, he explains how we do them better.

Lab Girl by Hope Jahren
Reminiscent of H Is for Hawk, Lab Girl is both a memoir of and a treatise on science.  Perfect for the budding scientist, Jahren teaches that lab work is best done "with both the heart and the hands."

The Artist's Compass by Rachel S. Moore
Now that little Johnny is the best trained classical guitarist this side of the Mississippi River, get him this book to show him how to end up performing at Lincoln Center instead of on the sidewalk across the street.

Shoe Dog by Phil Knight
Nike is one of the most recognized brands in the world and Phil Knight started it all in 1963 by selling imported Japanese sneakers out of the trunk of his car.  A memoir by the king of the start-ups for the new generation of go-getters.  For a limited time, we have signed copies of this book.

And don't forget about that special teacher - we have a variety of great books for teacher gifts as well, including:

Shakespeare Boxed Set by William Shakespeare
This is a tiny box with three books in it: Shakespeare: The Bard's Guide to Abuses and Affronts, William Shakespeare: The Complete Plays in One Sitting, and Love Sonnets of Shakespeare.  Perfect for your graduate or your favorite teacher, this set is smart, thoroughly entertaining AND it looks fantastic on a desk or bookshelf.  Who WOULDN'T want this for only $13.95?

Thank You, Teacher by Holly & Bruce Holbert
For an inspirational teacher gift, go with either one of these books.  Both are filled with stories, quotes, and essays that exalt our highest profession.

Might we also suggest a gift card bundled and beautifully packaged with a small gift? You may even want to add one of these fun hanging signs!

Feeling nostalgic when you think about your college grad all grown up?

Remember when they were little and struggling to read Elephant and Piggie (while laughing!)? Well, Mo Willems has just released the final Elephant and Piggie book called The Thank You Book!  Say "thank you" to teachers, Grads, Moms and Dads with a smile (but who did Piggie forget to thank?)

North Star by Peter H. Reynolds is a brand new book with simple text and drawings, sweet and wise, focusing on the really important things in life like caring for others (and sometimes napping).

Also new this year is a collection of two iconic Dr. Seuss books. This incredible gift includes the classic graduation gift, Oh, the Places You'll Go! paired with the keepsake book Oh, the Places I'll Go! By Me Myself.

Learn a New Game!
In our kids department we currently have two great storytelling based games that you can learn! The Memory Palace and Story Box are both open and ready to be investigated! (at the top of the stairs.)
