Tomorrow is International Women's Day, and in observation of the day, we'll be sending out a special Lenten reflection from theologian M. Shawn Copeland, Ph.D., taken from the 2003 Lenten booklet, To Live the Passion and Compassion of Jesus: Reflections for Lent 2003. The reflection reads, in part:

God is life. Jesus acts for the sake of life. He breaches the rules and rituals of the Sabbath only for life. But it is never easy to transgress the rules and rituals of ancient religions. Jesus pays a price for life. His actions are criticized, his teaching interrogated, his authority undermined. But Jesus never wavers. ... Like Jesus, we must never waver...

During this month of March, you'll be receiving a little more in your inbox from us than usual. We'll be sending you reflections and resources for Lent and the many holy days of this month. We're also requesting nominations for this year's Teacher of Peace Award, observing the anniversary of Archbishop Oscar Romero (made all the more poignant with last week's assassination of Berta Cceres in Honduras), acting for peace in Israel-Palestine, taking to the streets on Good Friday, and much more. It is a full and busy month. During these days, we hope that our far-reaching Lenten program of prayer, study and action will keep you rooted in the peace of Christ.

Today's e-Update -- our monthly digest of items from the past month and beyond which are still of interest or relevance -- includes quick links to recent resources, action alerts, news items, and more. We hope you'll take a few moments today or later this week to peruse these items and bring them to your practice of prayer, study and action.
