Sunday began the season of Advent and Pax Christi USA will again be sharing with you reflections and resources for Advent and Christmas throughout the year. Please check out our Advent 2014 webpage when you have a moment free. Here is a short reflection from Simone Campbell, SSS, one of our authors of this year's Advent booklet. It is for today, Dec. 2

Isaiah 11:1-10 | Luke 10:21-24

I give you praise, God of heaven and earth, for although you have hidden these things
from the wise and the learned you have revealed them to the childlike. . .
many prophets and kings desired to see what you see, but did not see it,
and to hear what you hear, but did not hear it. (Lk 10:21/24)

When the Nuns on the Bus visited Camden, NJ in the summer of 2013, we met with a group of community organizers. They had been making personal phone calls to elected officials, planning community meetings, and giving presentations at City Hall demanding a safer park in their neighborhood. The leader of their group was 14 years old. When we last checked in with the Student Leaders Von Nieda Park Task Force, they told us about the success of their park and that "we have set a good example for the people around us, and now over 60 adults have separated into small groups to continue the work that we started, such as repairing a local bridge."

Children everywhere are ready to teach us about God's love, beyond its kindness and deep into all of its thirst for justices. Often, it is hardest for adults to face injustice when they have to explain it to their children. The justice revealed to children is something many desire to see, but the Gospel tells us that power and status are not the way.

~Simone Campbell, S.S.S.

What can you be a part of that you would be proud to tell children about?

How might we live, work, and pray differently if we kept in mind
the privileged place of children, and not prophets or kings?

Below is the e-Update for December 2014, a recap of all of the items you may have missed which are still relevant from the past month or so. We hope you'll take a few moments today or later this week to review them and use them as you see fit.

We also hope you'll consider making a special donation to Pax Christi USA today as part of #GivingTuesday. #GivingTuesday is a global day dedicated to giving back. Today, charities, families, businesses, community centers, and students around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give. It's a simple idea. Just find a way for you, your family, your community, your company or your organization to come together to give something more. Then tell everyone you can about how you are giving. You can click here to give to Pax Christi USA now. Thanks so much for your generosity!
