Greetings of peace!

Our partners at SHARE-El Salvador have asked us to share this information about upcoming delegations to Honduras/El Salvador for monitoring the Honduran elections. Please read below for more information.

SHARE El Salvador invites you to join us for a Honduras Solidarity Delegation November 17-26 Travel to El Salvador and Honduras, learn about the grave current human rights situation and travel together with Salvadoran community leaders to Honduras to serve as an elections observer in Honduras´ Nov. 24th elections, supporting the right of the Honduran people to free and fair elections and a return to democracy following the 2009 coup. To register email bethany@share-elsalvador.org. More information is available by clicking here, including application and draft itineraries.

The Honduran people currently face a situation similar to El Salvador in the 1970's with  increasing militarization, repression, and violent murders of activists and community leadersIn response to this growing crisis the people of El Salvador and Honduras urgently call for solidarity and accompaniment.

On November 24th, 2013 Honduras will hold its first major elections since the 2009 coup, to elect the president, legislative representatives, and mayors. The Honduran people are asking for international observation to ensure their right to vote for leaders who represent them and vote out the leaders who have been pushing the privatization of social services, neglecting the poor and giving public land to the transnational extraction industry.

For this delegation, SHARE is partnering with U.S. El Salvador Sister Cities and the  Honduras Solidarity Network (HSN) to coordinate logistics and observation. We are offering an El Salvador/Honduras delegation and a Honduras only both long (17th-26th) and short (20th-26th) delegations.
