The quote above is just one example of the prevailing view held by the early leaders of our nation. Don't let anyone tell you that Islam was viewed favorably, or was seen as an equal religion, in early America. The founders had nothing in common with the politically correct narrative we hear today about Islam being a religion of peace. Remember, political correctness is a tool created by the liberal/leftist/socialists to advance an agenda. They use every crisis as an excuse to increase government power. Maybe that is why they want to manage Islamic terror, not destroy it.
We hear many conservative voices criticizing the President and others for not using the words, "radical Islamic terror," while implying that true Islam is a religion of peace which has been hijacked by radical Islam. But in reality, it is radical Islam that is true Islam. This is shown by these simple, yet profound words of Jesus Christ:
"A pupil is not above his teacher; but everyone, after he has been fully trained, will be like his teacher." --- Luke 6:40 (NASB)
To understand true Islam, all we have to do is look at the example of its teacher and founder. It is a matter of historical fact that Mohamed pillaged and killed those who did not submit to his teaching. Therefore, those we refer to as "radicalized" Muslims are simply those who are like their teacher-fully trained. They are true to their roots. After all, the definition of the word "radical" is: pertaining to the root or origin. The moderate/peaceful Muslims are simply the untrained or unorthodox ones who are unlike their founder. Lets pray they stay untrained, or even better, renounce Mohamed.
By the same principle, Christians who are fully trained act like Jesus. Instead of forcing submission or killing those who disagreed with Him, Jesus taught spiritual truth and demonstrated grace. Moderate Christians and moderate Muslims can sometimes look similar, but as they become more like their respective teachers, they look less and less alike and become polar opposites. Jesus and true Christianity are nothing like Mohamed and true Islam.
Christianity allows for people of different religions to coexist, but makes no concession of co-equality. Christian civil government exists for the express purpose of restraining evils like radical Islam, so people of different views and religions, including non-radical Muslims, can coexist in peace (see Romans 13:3-4; 1 Tim 2:2). We must pursue training that results in true Christlikeness, throw off any remnants of political correctness, and reestablish Christian values as the basis for our government and our culture for the sake all people.
