Today's Supreme Court Decision on Marriage When the Supreme Court ruled today that homosexual marriage is legal in all 50 states, it was and is a big deal.
- It is a big deal when the majority of those who profess to be the wisest deliberative body in the land so blatantly demonstrate that they have become fools (see Libation #208).
- It is a big deal when the Supreme Court of the United States oversteps its authority and imposes tyranny upon the people.
- It is a big deal when a godless President of the United States supports such a decision and claims this will strengthen our communities.
- It is a big deal when the Congress of the United States has become so corrupt and spineless (excluding a few good members) that it tacitly complies with and yields to such judicial tyranny.
- It is a big deal when the people of this land become so uninformed and uninvolved that they elect godless and spineless politicians.
The Biggest Deal? All of the above are big deals. They are direct attacks against our Constitution and the foundations of our nation, but perhaps the biggest deal of all is the direct attack on the church. According to scripture, marriage is God's model to demonstrate the relationship between Christ and the Church. Therefore, to redefine marriage is to redefine the church and its relationship with the church. Nothing draws the line between true religion and false religion as clearly as the marriage issue. Now, we have a government that has officially drawn that line. Our government has called evil good and good evil as it relates to Christ and His bride! Will God respond?
Isaiah speaks about this:
Isaiah 5:20-23 (NKJV)
20 Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
21 Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, And prudent in their own sight!
22 Woe to men mighty at drinking wine, Woe to men valiant for mixing intoxicating drink,
23 Who justify the wicked for a bribe, And take away justice from the righteous man!
Now Is Our Time! Isaiah goes on to describe the judgment that comes to those who call evil good and good evil, but also says that God's hand is still stretched out (see Isaiah 5:25). Though judgment may come from the hand of the Lord, there is still a redemptive purpose:
Isaiah 26:9 (NKJV) "... For when Your judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.
Therefore, let us look forward with a redemptive purpose. Now is not the time to despair but to prepare. Our work is more relevant, our pleas more poignant, and our words more piercing than ever! It is not a time to shrink back but to move boldly forward with truth and light. Now is the time to shine in the darkness and prepare the way for the kingdom of God to come on earth as it is in heaven. Now is our time!
