Libation # 204
A Sinister Sin
Samuel Chase
1741-1811

"By our form of government, the Christian religion is the established religion..."

Samuel Chase was a signer of the Declaration, and an Associate Supreme Court Justice. The above quote is from Maryland General Court, Runkel v. Winemiller; 1799

The very form of our government reflects Christianity. Our unique republic was modeled after principles found in the Christian scriptures and the quote above is one of many from the founding fathers that confirm this truth. Given the abundance of evidence showing the Christian foundations of our nation, I am amazed at those who continually deny this historical fact and refer to our nation as a secular democracy. How far we have fallen!

Many have simply been misled or brainwashed on this issue. But for those who did the brainwashing, there is only one way to describe them; they are intellectually dishonest liars. Yes, that is strong language, but we can never confront these problems if we do not call it like it is.  Jesus used equally strong language when confronting liars saying,

"You are of your father the devil ... there is no truth in him. ...he is a liar, and the father of it." (John 8:44).

Lying is one of the most sinister of sins because it destroys the very foundation of freedom and society itself. Without truth there can be no trust and without trust there can be no security or hope for the future. Nothing can be stable or secure without truth. That is why Jesus said,

"And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." (John 8:32).

There is only one antidote for lies and the darkness it creates; that is truth and light.  All of us who love truth must become light-bearers in our culture.  Find out how below.
