Customized Contract Training
Contract Training Highlight
IUPUI Contract Training helped Second Chance Mentoring build an efficient team

Second Chance Mentoring
is a small team with a big calling. Their website states, "The program's goal is to reduce the high percentage of persons who repeatedly return to prison." Five dedicated staff members help match "volunteer mentors to mothers and fathers, age 18 and older, transitioning back into their community from prison." Latrice Watson, Program Director, recently reached out to IUPUI Professional Development and Corporate Education for training to equip herself and the rest of the team with necessary skills for their demanding jobs.

Over a three week period, the group met at University Hall on the IUPUI campus to complete a short series of training workshops. The Strive Indy Training series focused on topics including team building, understanding unique brand identities, and balancing a heavy, project-based workload.  The series was designed for Second Chance Mentoring by Sara Griffin, Assistant Director for Outreach and Corporate Education, to build individual skills, create group awareness and clarity about the organization's work, and equip the team to work together more effectively.

Watson says the training has helped her team plan. "This series of training has enlightened and empowered the Second Chance Team. Our experience with the series at IUPUI Professional Development and Corporate Education continues to be a conversation starter in our meetings, as we brainstorm what we can do as a team to be more comprehensive and effective."

If you and your team are ready to engage your career, we are here to help you. Contact Sara Griffin at [email protected] for a free consultation.
