Dr. Kelly M. Thompson
On May 16, 2014, the Culver-Stockton College Board of Trustees elected Dr. Kelly M. Thompson as the twenty-sixth president of Culver-Stockton College.  President Thompson began her duties July 1, 2014. 
Thompson, the College's first woman president, replaces, Richard Valentine, the College's first alumnus president, in this position.

Dr. Thompson comes to Culver-Stockton from Barton College in Wilson, N.C., a sister Disciples of Christ-affiliated institution, where she has served as Vice President for External Relations since 2008.

Kansas City Zoo Alumni & Student Kick-Off Event
July 13, 2014
Join us at the Kansas City Zoo for a picnic in the lower lobby of the zoo's main building.  We will enjoy a lunch buffet from 12- 2 p.m. in the climate-controlled building. Then everyone can head outdoors to check out the zoo with family and friends. 

The cost is $20 a person, which includes your meal and admission to the zoo. Children 12 and under are free, but let us know they are coming!

President Richard D. Valentine Receives Emeritus Status

In recognition of his lifelong commitment to the betterment of society, Culver-Stockton College honored Richard D. Valentine with awarding him Emeritus status.  

 

President Valentine is an enduring advocate of Culver-Stockton College, and the College has advanced greatly under his leadership and guidance. He has dedicated his career to the progression of higher education, and at Culver-Stockton College, he has persistently worked to create meaningful experiences and unfailingly provided his wisdom and experience for the benefit of the students in his care.

 

It is in tribute to his many years of leadership, education and community service that the Board of Trustees took great pleasure in awarding Richard D. Valentine the title of President Emeritus with all the rights and privileges effective July 1, 2014.

 

C-SC Athletic Hall of Fame & Golf Classic

Join us to support the Culver-Stockton College Athletics Program this month at the C-SC Athletic Hall of Fame & Golf Classic in Quincy, Ill. 
  
We will be teeing off at Spring Lake Country Club around 12:30 p.m. Get your team of four together now to join us for the day! Lunch will be available around 11 a.m. and the day ends with the Athletic Hall of Fame Banquet at 6:30 p.m. in the Clubhouse.  Join us all day or just for dinner to support C-SC Wildcat Athletics.

St. Louis River City Rascals-Tickets $25

Join fellow Culver-Stockton College Alumni at the St. Louis River City Rascals Baseball game, as they take on the Frontier Greys! Game starts at 7:05 p.m. Tickets are $25 and include entrance to the Dog Pound Area (box seat or picnic table seating), buffet from 6:30-8:30 p.m., and drinks. Food includes: hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, chips, popcorn, & pretzels. Beverages include: iced tea, lemonade, water, Miller Light, and Coors Light. Alcohol will be served until 5th or 7th inning. This is a family friendly event. It is also Bark in the Park night at the ball game as well!!  Get your tickets today!

Chicago Columbia Yacht Club Alumni Event & Student Kick-Off

Join the Chicago Alumni Association as they welcome you aboard their summer alumni event. There will be friends, food and fun to be had on the 372-foot, former ice-cutting Canadian ferry, housing Chicago's Columbia Yacht Club. Parking can be found at the DuSable Harbor next door for a minimal fee. We hope to see you on the Lake!

C.A.T.S.- Culver-Stockton Alumni Transitioning Students
Mentoring Program
CatsThe mission of the Professional C.A.T.S. (Culver-Stockton Alumni Transitioning Students) Mentoring Program is to pair students and recent graduates with business professionals who will contribute to their career success through personal relationships. The mentorship program is one of the most rewarding ways C-SC alumni can stay involved.
  
Our next launch is in September 2014. We just completed our first semester of the program with 13 mentorships.  
If you are interested in participating, submit an application for the 2014 September-May Session.  Partnerships will be assigned by Sept. 1. Deadline to apply for the program is Aug. 25.

Christian Youth Leadership Retreat
Aug. 8-10
C-SC is inviting youth from Disciples of Christ Churches to come and join us for a Christian Youth Leadership Retreat on Aug. 8-10, 2014 at the Culver-Stockton College campus.
  
Students entering their junior and senior years of high school are encouraged to join us. The weekend is free and a schedule of events are located at culver.edu/DOCretreat or you can call (800) 537-1883 for more information. This retreat is sponsored by the Country Club Christian Church of Kansas City.

C-SC Partners With PCI
Be Ready to Update Your Alumni Record
Culver-Stockton aims to keep our alumni connected with the College and each other. To best achieve this goal, C-SC is partnering with Publishing Concepts (PCI) to create a new alumni directory and help alumni update email, phone numbers and other pertinent contact information.

You should be receiving emails, postcards and phone calls from PCI requesting your updated information. We encourage a response from you. Once the necessary data is collected, PCI will compile it and create a new alumni directory available for purchase.

This year we are celebrating the following class reunions: '54, '64, '74, '84, '89, '94 & '04.   Our special reunions are for Band, Cheerleading, Pillar's Scholars, Alpha Xi Delta, Kappa Alpha Psi (40-Year Anniversary), & Tau Kappa Epsilon (55-Year Anniversary).   
 
Free shuttle service available from Quincy to Canton on Friday afternoon and evening.  The shuttle will be picking up at the Holiday Inn, Stoney Creek Inn, and the Oakley Lindsey Center parking lot and returning to these locations later in the evening.  Please refer to the Homecoming Brochure for pick up/drop off times and locations, which will be arriving in your mailbox soon.
