C-SC 'Advantage': Follow Students in CUBA!!
Travel Blog with daily updates, photos and video clips

By now you have heard about the awesome Travel Opportunities that C-SC students get to experience as part of the 12/3 semester. You may have even experienced one firsthand. Whether you are wondering about what goes on during a 3-week trip, or you are nostalgic for the times you spent studying with your entire class in another country, we have an exciting solution. Follow students as they take a government and music trip to CUBA, Dec. 5-12!

During the Travel Study, students get to take a walking tour of Old Havana, enjoy dance performances by Regala Folkloric group, go to Ernest Hemingway's home, visit the studios of famous Cuban artists, enjoy music at Club La Zorra- Havana's most famous jazz club, visit local schools and more! This is a Travel Study like never before, and we want to share it with you.

The Quincy Herald-Whig is hosting a travel blog of the students' time in Cuba. We are sending C-SC staffer Jen Roberts along to take photos, write blog posts and capture video clips of the students experiencing Cuba. Watch the Quincy Herald-Whig news, the Alumni Facebook or Twitter, or the C-SC website for information.  The coverage of this adventure begins Dec. 1.

Reunion Groups Continue to Work on Class Gifts

First group picture of the Class of 1983

2013 Homecoming Blue & White Mixer

Several of our reunion groups are making donations as part of a class gift to the Annual Student Scholarship Fund.  This year the Class of 1983 raised $500 at Homecoming by selling barbeque sandwiches before the football game in the new tailgating area.  This is just one amazing way reunion groups are helping current students.  Help your reunion group give the gift of education.  Each group is raising funds until June 30th, 2014, so it is not too late to get your gift in today.  Reunion Classes this year are the classes of 1953, 1963,1973,1988,1983, and 2003.

Special thanks goes out to all of our class reunion leaders who have been working hard on getting your classmates to help make a difference!

C-SC Reducing Carbon Footprint
On-Campus Recycling
Culver-Stockton College is taking steps to reduce its carbon footprint by implementing several environmentally friendly programs, including one that was initiated by students at the start of the fall semester.

The college has expanded its on-campus recycling program through a partnership with Quincy Recycle, which donated cardboard recycling bins for every student room on campus. According to Dr. Chris Gill, C-SC's dean of student life, that's a total of about 640 bins.

Students now collect their own recyclables and dump their bins periodically into larger 40-gallon containers -- also donated by Quincy Recycle -- set up in each building. Then several times a week, students involved in the College's work-study program collect the recycling from the containers in each building and take the material to the college's recycling dumpsters. Gill said more than two tons of recycling material has been collected through the program this semester.
