This week on Radio Chavura, we have the pleasure of speaking with our good friend Alicia Vargo, owner of Pampered Passions Fine Lingerie and Pampered Passions Care Wear. The focus of show is the cancer research fundraiser that she will be hosting in her store on October 21st to benefit the AMC Cancer Fund (soon to be renamed the University of Colorado Cancer Center Fund).
Alicia, who has been a consistent ally of the Radio Chavura community (she offers modest fashions for observant Jewish women), is joined on the program by Brooke Cantrell, manager of strategic partnerships at the AMC Cancer Fund, and Julie Aigner-Clark, originator of the very popular Baby Einstein product line. Clark is a two-time breast cancer survivor.
Julie first confronted cancer in 2004, three years after she sold Baby Einstein to the Walt Disney Company. She was diagnosed again in 2008, a year after being recognized by President George W. Bush as a "talented business entrepreneur and generous social entrepreneur" during a State of the Union address.
In 2010, Julie wrote "You Are the Best Medicine" - a guide to help children cope with a cancer-stricken parent. Julie will be signing her book at next Sunday's AMC Cancer Fund fundraiser, where she will also serve as the keynote speaker. Kosher wines will be available.
