Issue #5
Feb 2nd, 2015
Assalamu Alaikum RSA Family,

Despite the frigid weather of this winter, RSA students, teachers and parents did not slow down in their engaged learning expeditions and entertaining and fun activities. During the month of January, RSA witnessed not only academic achievements like the Family Fun Night and Science Olympiad, but also outdoor and indoor activities that nourished our students physically, emotionally and socially. Enjoy reading this newsletter to celebrate all of our achievements.
As we look into the month of February, there are many exciting events and activities also happening at RSA. Don't forget to check out the upcoming events section of this newsletter.
Be The Difference Banquet Dinner... Mark your Calendar
On Saturday, February 28th, RSA will be hosting its annual family banquet dinner "Be The Difference" in Schutzen Park, North Bergen. This is the event where RSA community comes together to support the school in all means. Not only will RSA students be presenting great performances for us, but also Native Deen and Freedom Spill Nasheed groups will be joining us.  A special children's program will be also provided for our dear youngsters. If you haven't purchased your tickets yet, stop by the main office or call us to order them.
Spelling Bee Competition Reminders
Spelling Bee rounds are around the corner.. First round, the In-class Spelling Bee is rescheduled for Friday, February 13th. In this round, the top five students from each grade (K-8th) will be selected. The second round, the In-School Spelling Bee, is scheduled for April 16th, where the two finalists from each grade will be announced. The final round days, where the five Islamic Schools will be joining are May 27th & 28th. Take advantage of the snow days to practice your words more!
Snow Days Make Up
As mentioned in our 2014-2015 master calendar, first priority make up days for any snow day we have will be taken from the February winter break.. Since we already had 2 snow days, make up days so far will be Monday, Feb 16th and Tuesday, Feb 17th. Please keep note of these days.
