Inclusive Schools Week 2015 Celebration

Inclusive Schools Week was a great success! SFUSD schools took part in the national celebration and more than 86 schools conducted school-wide events to celebrate the importance of inclusion. Highlights included equity-walks, student led forums, parent workshops and creative inclusion lesson planing. Inclusion supporters gathered outside City Hall for the ISW kickoff event on Monday Dec 7. Students shared personal experiences and why inclusive education is so important for us all. 

ATIC Open House - Innovative Empowerment

In celebration of inclusive education and to showcase power of technology to impact learning for students with learning differences, ATIC held it's first community Open House on Dec 10. Close to seventy students, teachers, administrators and community members participated in mini workshops on Assistive Technology and Alternative Augmentative Communication and listened to innovative and talented student speakers who described the importance of technology to support their learning needs.
Lisa Gaglioti - December Featured Teacher

Congratulations to Lisa Gaglioti, a year 3-5 mild/moderate teacher at Hillcrest Elementary who was nominiated for the Featured Teacher this month. "Lisa has created a safe, supportive, and nurturing learning environment for her students. She approaches teaching with purposeful inquiry towards student's strengths and areas for growth and adapts her lessons accordingly. Even on challenging days she remains calm, positive, and smiling. Her dedication, consistency, and resilience are appreciated by all." - Helen Parker, Assistant Principal, Hillcrest Elementary.
