Celebrates Inclusion, Dec.1-5
SFUSD has made a commitment to access and equity, student achievement and accountability. Inclusive Schools Week is celebrated annually the first week of December around the world. The purpose of the week is to highlight and celebrate the progress schools, communities and individuals have made with inclusive practices. The week provides an opportunity for educators, students, and parents to celebrate progress and discuss what else needs to be done to ensure schools continue to improve practice in ensuring all children have access and are educated in the least restrictive environment (LRE). Soccer Skills Day in Golden Gate Park
250 energized students attended Soccer Skills day on Oct. 17 in Golden Gate Park. Over the past two months students have been working hard developing soccer skills and an understanding of the game. They were clearly eager to show off what they learned. The day provided an opportunity for students from across the city to participate in one activity together. The excitement, energy and enthusiasm was contagious. Soccer Skills day was a huge success for all who were able to participate! Thank you to Paul Zager and the many teachers and parents who worked hard to make this day a huge success!

Psychologists Collaborate
SFUSD School Psychologists attend informative monthly meetings to collaborate, examine best practice and further the collective work to support equity and access throughout the district. Already they have participated in workshops that define best practice in Autism assessment and they have participated in activities that assess their own individual equity lens and how their equity lens impacts their work. A great success within the department is that as of October 10, 2014 more than 85% of the team has been formally trained in administration of the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, 2nd edition (ADOS-2). The ADOS-2 is considered the gold standard in assessment for Autism and at this time a year ago less than 10% of the department had been trained. A huge shout out to SFUSD School Psychologists for all the amazing work!
