Special Education Awesomeness

Common Core Infused Curriculum

On August 13, close to 80 Special Education Teachers participated a full day training on how and why general education curriculum methodology impacts and applies to students with moderate to severe and profound disabilities. The full day workshop explored the learning environment, curriculum, instruction, and IEP goals as the intersection of educational benefit. Participants learned about new resources for accessing standards based instruction, such as content-based schedules, lesson planning, and expectations. One of the awesome resources reviewed was The National Center State Collaborative. This wiki was designed as a resource for teachers of students with moderate/severe disabilities to deliver instruction aligned to the Common Core State Standards (CCSS).
The ReThink Crew

The outstanding ReThink educators are an excited crew. Sixty ReThink teachers participated in a full day training on the ReThink Curriculum during the first week of September. The PD focused on ReThink's comprehensive software for educators who support students on the Autism spectrum. Software focuses on the needs of the student across functioning and grade levels. ReThink makes is easy to address Common Core State Standards and IEP Goals and Objectives. Teachers learned strategies to infuse ReThink curriculum into their lesson plans and how to track data on their iPads with the ReThink application.
