The weather has been wet the past few days, but we're spotting more traffic on the deck lately. Marietta and her daughter Lilly resuscitated the planter pots, adding bulbs and flower seeds that will make an appearance soon. And we welcome your ideas and efforts.

You don't have to be a member, and you can rent the spaces in the evenings and on weekends as well as during the week. There's a new 65" hi-def monitor instead of a projector now, offering crystal clear and bright images or screenings.

Hands-on Social Media Marketing classes start in June... and keep going!

This social media series IS NOT another Tuesday@noon theme-of-the-month, and therefore takes a bit of explanation. It's the first time OfficeXpats has organized training that will stay the course and support you in an area that requires consistent focus and investment month after month. It is slightly longer, at 75 minutes. And it is the first time that instructors are being paid (we will have at least two per class!). So you can count on a solid team with lots of hands-on support during class, and guidance that you can choose to renew as you build your skills over time.
FREE one-on-one support: For the first month only (June), the team has agreed to be available for 30 minutes ahead of each class to help attendees with some basics. So for instance, if you don't have a basic Facebook business page yet, you can get help before class to create a bare-bones starter page and set the visibility to "private" until you are ready to unveil your masterpiece.

Eleven Winery raises funds with zero-interest "squares" through Community Sourced Capital
Matt Albee from Bainbridge Island's Eleven Winery is raising money for his business to acquire automated bottling equipment, but he's not doing it how you think. In fact, Matt is asking hundreds of people to fund a $20,000 loan with the help of Community Sourced Capital (CSC), a company based in Seattle that helps people lend to local businesses.
CSC's online funding platform allows community members to finance businesses they know by buying something called a "Square," a $50 piece of the larger loan intended for the winery. Eleven Winery is selling at least 400 "Squares" to reach their target loan of $20,000. CSC aggregates funds from Squares into a single zero-interest loan for Eleven and manages repayments back to "Squareholders." The loans pay zero-interest to lenders so CSC also charges zero-interest to the borrowers. "It's a fair and 'square' way to keep money moving in our local economy without getting bogged down in the complications of structuring a public investment," said Rachel Maxwell, one of the co-founders of CSC.
