Bainbridge Island at work... together! March 20, 2013
|
|
Greetings!
Help us plan upcoming Tuesday@noon business skills workshops! Do you have a skill you would like to share with our small business audience? Do you have suggestions for monthly themes that would help you manage or grow your business? Let me know what you would like, or like to offer.
 | Marietta and many others have donated LOTS of art supplies. |
Then, create a date for your inner artist.
" Art at the Office" returns this Thursday 6-8:30pm. Artist Sylvia Carlton will bring her collaged cigar boxes for us to look at. If you have a collage for show and tell, bring it! Otherwise, just show up and have fun with old school cutting and pasting. All are invited. It's free and no RSVP is needed.
4 Money-Saving Reasons to Try Coworking? In an article in smallbusinesscomputing.com, reason #1 is to streamline expenses while avoiding the IRS. According to accounting experts, selecting the "home office deduction" on your federal tax return raises your risk of getting selected for an IRS audit. Coworking space members, on the other hand, can deduct the cost of monthly membership dues as ordinary business expenses. Read on for more ways "coworking can flex your small business budget." Not in a left-brain money-saving mood? Take a look at more pictures (the official ones) from the GCUC coworking conference a couple weeks ago and have some vicarious fun with coworkers.

How To Create Presentation Visuals
March 26, 12-1pm: How to "Powerpoint," with Mickey Molnaire.
Mickey will offer tips and tricks for starting with templates, using transitions effectively and judiciously, and how to delight your audience by easily creating handouts. She will also cover a few important logistics for how to avoid tech traumas when you finally get in front of your audience.
$10/ea session; 15 seats reserved at no charge for registered OfficeXpats members. The session last week was "sold out" for the members-only slots, so don't wait long to register. |
Two events with the Chamber of Commerce coming soon
 | Leif Utne, showing off the shirt. |
#1: This Saturday, look for OfficeXpats at the Home and Business Expo at Woodward Middle School, 10am-4pm. If you've been considering membership, we will have a one-day-only membership special. Members, any of you are welcome to come hang out with us for a while and share your serendipity stories. The pay is terrible, the company should be pretty fun, and you'll probably get a cool t-shirt.
#2: Next week, don't miss the Chamber of Commerce "After Hours," hosted at OfficeXpats! You'll taste some amazing nibbles by Soup'r Burger (have you tried their cornbread?!) and reconnect with all your favorite Bainbridge business people.
