Everyone enjoyed playing the CableCheck Game last January, so we're bringing it back. And yes, you can be eligible to win the iPad Mini prize even if you played the game last time.
CCCA designed the game as a fun and informative way to continue to educate the industry about non-compliant communications cables and the fire safety dangers they pose.

Factory Mutual Insurance Co. Recommends the Use of Plenum Cable in Data Centers Have you seen FM Global Property Loss Prevention Data Sheet for FM insured data centers and related facilities?
The data sheet guidelines provide a higher level of fire/smoke protection by recommending plenum rated cables and plenum rated raceways/routing assemblies for all applications inside FM insured data centers. National Electrical Code (NEC) Article 645 requires only general-purpose data cables as a minimum. |
Federal Buildings to Use Open Consensus Green Building Rating Systems
The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) is striving to broaden the field of rating systems approved for government "green" buildings. Rating systems become viable when they are validated through an open, voluntary consensus process and supported by sound science. By participating in discussions directly with Members of the U.S. Congress, alongside other Trade Associations, CCCA advocated and endorsed policies that enhance competition among rating systems to give more flexibility to government contractors designing and/or installing cabling infrastructure projects.
Once approved as an ANSI standard, the STEP rating system is expected to become an industry-specific best practice for ICT projects, not addressed by other green building rating systems. CCCA also endorses the ANSI approved "Green Globes" certification standard for buildings, established by the Green Building Initiative.

CCCA Presented at UL's China Wire and Cable Fair
UL held its inaugural Wire and Cable Fair in Dongguan, China this July, attracting over 3,000 attendees and over 150 exhibitors. CCCA participated in the Fair by presenting its findings on the serious fire safety hazards and performance shortfalls of non-compliant and counterfeit communications cable. A second, complementary presentation was made on how Industry Associations, such as the CCCA, can contribute to a healthier structured cabling industry through collaboration on key issues such as quality and independent third party testing. CCCA strongly supports UL on its initiatives to maintain the integrity of its Listing / Verification Marks and to educate the industry on the importance of compliance to safety / performance codes and standards.
