More risk and legal exposure

from copper clad aluminum conductors in 4-pair UTP cables

A new white paper has been published by CCCA on the potential legal liabilities for manufacturers and contractors who install multi-conductor communications cable made with copper clad aluminum (CCA) conductors.

copper clad aluminum CCA conductors are prohibited by the National Electrical Code and violate industry standards for "Category" cables and the UL 444 standard for multi-conductor communications cables.

Such cables are not eligible to receive a fire safety listing from UL or any other independent testing agency.

The STEP Foundation launches manufacturers group

A new STEP Manufacturers Group has been formed to encourage development of manufacturers' sustainability practices and initiatives through a rating system recognition program. The new group's scope includes suppliers, distributors, system integrators, and VARS.

CCCA is a supporting member of The STEP Foundation, which brings sustainability practices to the process of planning, designing, integrating and operating information communication technology (ICT) systems.
