Perfect for the holidays:
a homemade pollinator house!
Join us in learning about native pollinators and how to attract them to your yard. After a brief presentation by Jason Graham from the UF Honey Bee Research and Extension Lab, we'll unleash your creativity! Build your very own unique pollinator habitat, or build one for someone else!
This is a kid-friendly event! Children will be welcome to forage our farm and woods with supervision if they get bored!
What to Bring
We'll provide basic tools and hardware to build the structures, as well as including wood and bamboo. So if you don't have anything to bring, you'll be OK!
But please, if you have anything to contribute please consider bringing any of the following to make your structure awesome:
- UNTREATED wood pieces
- bamboo (smaller diameters are preferable)
- an old bird house or something similar to serve as a frame and holder
- metal coffee cans
- outdoor non-toxic paint (blue shades are preferred)
- outdoor rope, twine, hooks for hanging
- any embellishments you'd like (fancy hooks to hang, buttons to glue on etc.)
- Extra drills, drill bits and hammers will make things go faster
