TEAM Monthly Newsletter
Welcome to TEAM Talk
April, 2013
Greetings!

Another busy month in TEAM Head Office including the quarterly National Executive meeting of the Regional/Divisional Directors. The Directors reported some very mixed results across the UK, although business is steady there is still pressure on margins and fees. We sent out last week our TEAM Quarterly Business Trends Survey, it would be great if you could please complete it as it will help give an overall picture.

The Regional Meetings all had a good attendance of Members this last quarter and we are keen that for the meetings going forward this year that there is plenty of networking time to allow Members the chance to exchange more business and 'Make More Money'! Dates for the next round of meetings are available via the TEAM website and from this monthly newsletter.

Don't forget the Sector meetings - TEAM Executive and Specialist Recruitment on 25th April and also the IT/Technical Meeting on 2nd May.

Two events not to be missed on 1st May are the Recruitment International 'Inspiring Women in Business' followed the Recruiter Awards in the Evening.

Do you engage with an Umbrella Company or are you thinking of doing so? If you have any doubts or queries please don't hesitate to contact our TEAM Helpline - Simon Kite - Saffery Champness - 0161 200 8383 - simon.Kite@saffery.com who will be pleased to advise.

Wishing you all a successful business month in May!

Best Wishes

Personality profiling - the recruiter's friend or an expensive load of old clap-trap?

We're all professional recruiters and we've all made hundreds of successful placements with our clients, so why do they sometimes go awry?

What causes a placement to fail? Is it the process or the people involved.....or perhaps a bit of both?

My guess is that it is seldom because the candidate doesn't have the skills or experience to do the job. After all, shouldn't a really clear understanding of the vacancy combined with the use of thorough competency based interviewing techniques, appropriate ability/skills testing and referencing should enable you as a recruiter to identify potential failings in these areas.

Candidates can be rejected at interview, or worse still leave or be rejected during their probationary period because they just don't "fit" or they're not performing to the expected standard....yet the selection process indicated that they would be perfect for the role.

TEAM Xchange first quarter winners!

TEAM are delighted to announce the lucky winners this last quarter were Jacqui Earles-Barrett, Harris Jones and Mark Constantino, Upgrade Recruitment. This quarter saw over £100,000 of split business with an average split of £2,500. No split is too small to enter.

What did our winners say - Jacqui Earles-Barrett - "A big THANK YOU to TEAM Xchange and in particular to FLR Spectron for this wonderful prize! We at Harris Jones Recruitment do a lot of split business with Upgrade Recruitment and it is fantastic to be rewarded for something we would do and continue to do anyway! I am looking forward to a great night at the O2!"

Mark Constantino - 'I'm truly delighted to win the prize for this quarter! Having only won an £8 lottery ticket a few years ago this was a lovely surprise. It has motivated both me and the rest of the consultants at Upgrade Recruitment to fill more team bookings. I'd like to thank FLR Spectron for sponsoring this fantastic prize and Jacqui Earles Barrett at Harris Jones.

TEAM thanks our sponsors FLR Spectron for their generous prize of   2 pairs of tickets for Michael Buble at the O2 plus overnight accommodation.

Pension Auto Enrolment Seminar - 21st May 2013

Guest Speaker Steve Bee

Are you a Pensions expert? What do you need to do?

The pension reforms that have been underway since the end of 2012 have been described as the biggest change to our pension system in over a hundred years. Over a million new company pension schemes will be put in place by law by 2018. Can that be done without every employer and employee in the land becoming a pension expert?

TRAINING - STOP PRESS!

A number of TEAM Members have made recent comment about their disillusionment at both the content and cost of various consultant training programmes currently available through trade associations.  As a result of various discussions and a presentation at the recent TEAM National Executive meeting we are pleased to announce that in conjunction with Jeremy Snell of Zero Entropy Networks, TEAM Members will now have access to what we believe is well structured and "fit for purpose" training programme for recruitment consultants.  The twelve week induction programme provides for a comprehensive grounding in best recruitment practises and also includes guidance on current employment legislation and will be available to TEAM Members at a discounted rate that is both competitive and affordable. More information from Jeremy@zeroentropynetworks.com.
