TEAM Monthly Newsletter
Welcome to TEAM Talk
March, 2013
Greetings!

This year seems to be racing by faster than ever...end of the first quarter fast approaching and Easter just around the corner!

Thank you to all Members who provided some important feedback on the TEAM National Conference and I am pleased to say that as a result this will now become a permanent annual event in the TEAM calendar. We will be sending out the next quarterly TEAM business survey at the end of the month and it will be interesting to see how this compares to the first one we did at the end of 2012.

On an early positive note many Members, across all sectors, appear to be experiencing a steadily improving level of new vacancies and assignments...I hope they all get filled! Whilst on that subject please make full use of the TEAM Xchange tool on the website, if you haven't used it yet then you must have at least one "stubborn" vacancy/candidate that might just suit someone else out there...nothing ventured!...and it might just make you a shared fee!

Our consultations with BIS on the review of the Conduct Regulations continue and we should be able to provide Members with further information in the coming weeks.

Are you doing your LinkedIn 5 A Day?

After a very successful TEAM 2013 conference, I thought I would send an article for the TEAM newsletter to summarise a particular part of my workshop based on your LinkedIn 5 a day. 22% of my new business is a direct result of LinkedIn activity. To be successful in business you need a bit of structure as well as a pinch of creativity.

LinkedIn is no exception, and each day we go through a process called the "LinkedIn 5 a day". There are the five key activities that we perform for our social media clients and also our own accounts each day on LinkedIn. To achieve all of these activities takes approximately 15 mins a day, and is time well spent!

Pensions Auto-Enrolment Implementation Plan

Whatever your staging date and however large your workforce, it is universally agreed that preparation for auto-enrolment is crucial. And the experience of those who are already all or some way down the route is that the sooner you start your preparation the better. The Pensions Regulator has published a lot of guidance on its website about an employer's duties but navigating your way around the documentation can be time consuming and confusing. So Fiona Coombe of Foresight Legal Consultancy has produced a project plan for TEAM members identifying the key tasks that all employers will need to consider in order to comply with their obligations.

Dealing with religion or belief in the workplace

The Equality and Human Rights Commission has produced a guide to help employers deal with religion or belief in the workplace following the decision in Eweida v United Kingdom last month. The decision in Eweida made national news by deciding that Ms Eweida had been discriminated against on the basis of her religion due to British Airway's refusal to allow her to wear her crucifix at work. The guidance published by the Commission is important for employers seeking to ensure that they too do not end up in costly litigation

TUPE Consultation - Service Provision changes no longer included?

In its recent consultation paper, the Government has proposed several amendments to reduce the regulatory burden of TUPE. The Government believes that the proposed changes will "improve and simplify" TUPE for all parties involved.
