Welcome to TEAM Talk
February, 2013
Greetings!

This goes out, hot on the heels of TEAM's first ever National Conference held in Northampton on 8th February 2013. Judging by some of the early comments over two hundred attendees, saw a lot, learnt a lot and talked a lot. It is hoped that this will become a regular annual event albeit we may need a larger venue!

Apart from a reminder of the various upcoming first quarter TEAM Regional meetings we shall also be exhibiting at the Recruitment Expo on the 26th and 27th of February, at Olympia. Simon Garbett and Liz Longman together with some TEAM Members will be attending the International NPA Worldwide Conference in Las Vegas, (28th February - 2nd March) .... bookings still available.

2013 according to many of our Members appears to have got off to a busy start. We hope this will prove sustainable throughout the year.

Best Wishes,

Liz Longman
Managing Director

TEAM Member of the Year - 2012 Sponsored by Bond Payroll Services and Bond International Software

As announced at the TEAM annual Conference, the TEAM Member receiving the most votes from their fellow Members, in recognition of their services to other Members, was one of the founder Members of TEAM, Keith and Julie Hanson from Personnel Placements of Salisbury and Ringwood.

Keith Hanson says "Personnel Placements is delighted to have won the TEAM Member of the Year award for 2012. As Founder members, we have, for many years, seen first-hand the value that TEAM has brought to our business. The benefits both financial and non-financial have added a unique competitive advantage to the service that we provide to our clients. The TEAM ethos of trust and co-operation has enabled us to work with other like-minded professional recruiters working across different and specialist disciplines. "

"Personnel Placements have been a proactive Member of TEAM right from the start and apart from their regular and positive interaction with other Members, Keith heads up the TEAM Executive and Specialist Division which is one of the fastest growing Divisions within the network" adds TEAM MD - Liz Longman.

TEAM Xchange

We are delighted to announce that the results of the TEAM Xchange quarterly networking competition were drawn at the recent TEAM National Conference and the two winners were

Kerry Greenland - Vantage Recruitment

Lissa Fletcher - Arden Personnel

Who each received £500 in cash from our Sponsors ISV Software

Kerry Greenland said "I was pleased to be able to attend TEAM's national Conference on Friday - which I thought was a thoroughly excellent event. After joining TEAM fairly recently I am delighted to have won this Quarter's TEAM Xchange competition with a fellow recruiter who has given me the opportunity to work with her.  Thank you to TEAM for giving me the support and encouragement needed on 'going it alone' and thank you to Ruth Wagstaff - who introduced me to TEAM - without which, I would be a lot more than £500 poorer!"

Lissa Fletcher - "it's been great working with Kerry at Vantage Recruitment she has helped me source several excellent candidates so I can deliver a timely solution to my clients and gain repeat business, we have a great working relationship and are working on a regular basis helping each to place more people into work."

Any TEAM Member sharing business with another Member is eligible to enter their split fee into this quarterly competition. This Quarter's competition is sponsored by FLR Spectron and the two winners will each receive 2 tickets and overnight accommodation to see Michael Bublé at the O2 Arena. Please send entries to team@jobsatteam.com in accordance with the rules.

Dame Kelly Holmes Legacy Trust

Message from Dame Kelly Holmes:

"Hi There,

Well, this is where it starts. I'm thrilled that TEAM have become a National Supporter to the Dame Kelly Holmes Legacy Trust. Having reached over 50,000 young people since starting in 2008, many of these young people have just not had a network of support in the past, and it's often the reason why so many young people are the way they are.

Thanks to your support, we will be able to continue to provide this support to young people, with world-class athletes from my charity mentoring and inspiring them as they look to make positive changes to their lives, getting back into employment, training and education.

It's great to hear you're all in competition across the regions! You'll have to keep us updated with your fundraising ideas - the more original the better!

Thanks again!

TEAM Business Survey Oct - Dec 2012 compared to previous quarter

We recently asked Members to provide information on 4 key areas of business to assist in providing some indications of business trends. We reiterate that the results are not necessarily scientific but as each quarter's results build it will hopefully provide a general indication both regionally and nationally.

This first survey suggests;

  1. Number of Placements - Generally up
  2. Perm Fees - Generally about the same. (Perhaps due to static salaries and still competition on fees.)
  3. Number of Temps - Generally up.
  4. Temp Margins - Generally about the same, perhaps for similar reasons as 2. Plus AWR effect.

Employment Law Review

Government Response: Ending the Employment Relationship - confirms our intention to ask Acas to produce a Statutory Code of Practice, in which we intend to include template letters for beginning the settlement discussion, and an explanation of the term 'improper behaviour'. This will be supported by detailed accompanying guidance. We will also, subject to Parliamentary process, introduce a 12 months' pay cap on the compensatory award for unfair dismissal. The introduction of a pay based cap will run alongside a specified overall cap, with the limit being the lower of the two figures. Download Here.

Early Conciliation: A consultation on proposals for implementation - sets out how we intend that EC should operate to inform the development of the necessary administrative process and secondary legislation to support implementation. Download Here and Download Here

TUPE: A consultation on proposed changes to the regulations -consults on a range of proposals designed to ease the transfer process and to change the wording of particular provisions in TUPE to more closely reflect the Acquired Rights Directive and the case law of the Court of Justice of the European Union. Download Here and Download Here

Recruitment sector legislation: consultation on reforming the regulatory framework for employment agencies and employment businesses - seeks to establish when it is appropriate for the Government to impose rules on the recruitment sector and when it is more appropriate for the sector and marketplace to decide the rules for themselves. We are also seeking views on enforcement and whether individual enforcement would be more effective than the current Government enforcement regime. Download Here and Download Here.
