Myrtle Beach: 60 Miles of

Beaches and more

Naturally, the fun in Myrtle Beach always starts on the beach, the area's most popular attraction. Sixty miles of sandy beaches provide ample opportunities of things to do such as water sports, shell collecting and more as part of your vacation. But there's a wide range of other activities awaiting you. Head out to the emerald-green fairways of a local championship golf course, or cool off at one of the area's water or amusement parks. Take a cruise aboard a riverboat, go it alone on a pontoon boat or head out on a banana boat with the entire family for the thrill of a lifetime. Here are just a few of the many attractions that await in Myrtle Beach:

Home to South Carolina's only casino ships, the beautiful Atlantic Ocean off the Myrtle Beach area coast comes alive day and night with Vegas-style gambling, live entertainment and fine food. The area's elegant casino ships set sail twice daily on 5-hour cruises from beautiful Little River, just a short drive north from the Central Myrtle Beach. Regular patrons rave about the cruise out and back along scenic Little River Inlet. Enjoy the beach and local attractions during the day and then try your gambling luck on the ocean once the sun sets. If you prefer, gamble and enjoy the view during the day and then return late afternoons in time to explore all the dining and nightlife Myrtle Beach has to offer.

Myrtle Beach is the ultimate playground for kids, both big and small, of all ages, from toddlers to teenagers and beyond. This lovely city features an incredible number of attractions for families who are looking for an entertaining way to spend a few days away from the demands of school and work.

Myrtle Beach Kids...One of the area's best and most well-known attractions is the Myrtle Beach Pavilion, and its amusement park, which offers nearly 40 thrill rides, including the mind-boggling Hurricane roller coaster.

NASCAR Speedpark puts you and your family in the driver's seat. You might begin your driving adventure on the Qualifier or the Young Champions track, then consider accellerating into the Gatorade Family 500. And the youngest members of the family can take a turn on the car-themed kids' rides or spend the afternoon enjoying the indoor playground. In the NASCAR SpeedDome, you'll find a high-tech, interactive arcade, along with a three-story climbing wall.

Alabama Theatre. This plush, 2,000-seat theater is the setting for some of the   best concerts and shows in town, as well as a top-notch variety show called One. The list of entertainment legends who have graced this stage include George Jones; Bill Cosby; Charlie Pride; Loretta Lynn; Roy Clark; the Coasters, Platters & Drifters; and the auditorium's namesake, Alabama.

Carolina Opry. Founded by entertainer and entrepreneur Calvin Gilmore, the Carolina Opry started the Grand Strand's theater boom in 1986 and has won every top South Carolina tourism award. The 2,200-seat venue offers a medley of music, including country, pop, gospel, Broadway, jazz and more, plus generous helpings of comedy and dance. Mr. Gilmore regularly appears on the Grand Ole Opry.

Celebration Music Theatre. Home to world-class, live entertainment and features the legendary tribute artist show SUPERSTARZ! Live and the Broadway Celebration Series. The live entertainment options include legendary tribute artists performing hits from the biggest stars, stunning dancers, a world-class live band, an exciting original "just for kids" production "the Rocktastics!", and a full season of Broadway comedy and musical theatre.

The House of Blues. The House of Blues attracts standouts in the world of blues, jazz, gospel and rock. Norah Jones, Edwin McCain, Counting Crows, Keith Urban, Hootie & The Blowfish, and Chris Isaac are just a few of the headliners who have appeared here. Other big draws: the Sunday Gospel Brunch, Teen Dance Night, and Murder Mystery Dinner Theater.

Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament. At Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament, knights on Andalusian stallions compete for the audience's attention. Every performance features thrilling action and four-course feasting. A new plot, "The Traitor Story," along with new characters, costumes, lighting, and music has become a family favorite.

Pirates Voyage - Fun, Feast & Adventure "Beware Matey..Now Open. Pirates Voyage The Most Breathtaking Dinner Show Ever! Experience the swashbuckling excitement as Crimson and Sapphire pirates battle each other on deck, in the water and sky above on their full size pirate ships in a 15 foot deep lagoon. Plus live animals, spectacular acrobatics, all while you enjoy a fabulous 5 course pirate feast."
