Tips for the New Year! Your Yoga/spin Resolution!

 

Congratulations on your health resolution: the wise choice to start or start back up a yoga practice or cycling routine in 2015.

 

Yoga and moving your body in spin, when practiced  regularly, and for a while, gives a sense of clarity and connection that tends to naturally draw us toward healthier choices and feeling great!

 

Here are some basic tips to get on track!

 

1. Plan for success. You'll see benefits more quickly with three classes a week, but if you can only do one, do one. Start where you are.

 

2. Sign up Ahead.  Plan your classes and schedule them ahead of time. Hold yourself accountable! There has been more success with routine and planning to make it accessible and easy!


 

3. Play the field. Try out different classes on our schedule. There are many different styles and instructors!  Many people try one yoga class, then make their decision. One class isn't enough. If you go to a class that you don't like, try another one.  There is a class and a teacher out there that will be perfect for you.

 

4. Be Kind to Yourself.  Fancy poses are impressive and fun to do/watch, but they provide no means for measuring the success of a practice. Be authentic with your practice and physical or not it will eventually show you the way to your soul and you will want to land on your mat more! 

 

5. Get to know your community. Get inspired! Participate in events, workshops and talk to your instructors and the gals at the desk. Motivation often comes from a sense of belonging, feeling safe, support and growth! This is your chance to become a part of something bigger!

Prenatal yoga class postures are modified to accommodate the changing needs of the expectant mother.

Provides multiple benefits such as; preparing the hips, legs and
pelvic muscles for childbirth, and improved breath and blood circulation.

Back to Basics: Foundations of Flow with Tori Jarvis-Grant

Simplify the most inquired about poses in the flow sequence.

Focusing on correct alignment, join Tori Jarvis-Grant and spend time flowing and breaking down seemingly complicated poses in to easy to swallow, and delicious bites. Deepen your practice with a greater understanding of fundamental poses often skimmed over in a regular class, and take your yoga to the next level.

Kids Yoga with Michelle Marshall!
Starts Sun. Jan 11th | 6 weeks  | 9:00 ~ 10:00am


 

Kids Only Class! Come do another class, while your kids do their own!

 

Encourage a deeper sense of body awareness, self-exploration and interpersonal skills. This fun class encompasses flowing sequences, balancing poses, breathing exercises, games and creative relaxation techniques.

 

This class will inspire positive peer interactions that they are sure to carry into their everyday lives.

Enhancing Cancer Self-Care through Yoga & Nutrition
2 Sessions| Sat Jan. 17th & Feb. 28th| 2:00 ~ 4:00pm  


 

This is a two part series with Barb Stewart and Jill Haverstock where each workshop will include lifestyle choices for individuals interested in cancer prevention, living with cancer and or avoiding cancer recurrence.

 

Designed for both men and women faced with a cancer diagnosis, caregivers, and anyone interested in cancer prevention.

 

 

 

Part 1 - January 17 - Keys to Reducing Inflammation

 

You will learn how and why inflammation is detrimental to your health as well as its links to cancer.  You will discover how to reduce inflammation in your body through specific yoga postures as well through optimizing your digestion with key nutrients. Handouts provided.

 

Part 2 - February 28 - Immune System and Pain Management Support

 

Learn how to manage pain so it does not manage you (both mental and physical) through gentle yoga movement and a guided meditation. Discover how to improve your immune system by adding on another layer of "nutritional defense" against illness and infection. Healthy tips, snacks and recipes will be provided.

 

Pre-Registration is required to save your spot.
