Halifax Yoga Studio Etiquette  

Please refresh yourself on yoga etiquette for good Karma!


1. Arrive at least 15 minutes before class.
Ityoga avoids disruption. Bonus: If you arrive early you can get set up without feeling stressed out.

2.  Sign In. Upon your arrival, please scan to check-in with at the desk (even if you sign in online).

3. Refrain from using your cellphone (even in the lobby).  Please be respectful and turn your phone completely off. No Cell Phones in studio rooms. 

4. Scent-free zones. It's courtesy to refrain from using scents, allergies can be serious.  

5. Place your mat down gently. Your yogi neighbor will thank you for being so mindful!

  

6. Stay for the Whole Class. Staying for savasana means you can get the most out of your class. It also avoids disrupting other students and maintains the energy of the room.

7. Put away props, and wipe the floor. If you were in a sweaty awesome class (lucky!) please wipe the floor around your mat. We wouldn't want any yogi injuries.

  

8. Share the Shower. Please be respectful and kindly keep your shower short so everyone gets a turn!

9. Make room for others. If the room is starting to fill up, please create space. The more the merrier when it comes to yogic energy!

10. Take your shoes off.
Please do not wear your shoes through the studio or into the practice space. Embrace the freedom of being barefoot!

Come and share the magic of Yoga with your child! Encourage a little pretzels/parent pretzelsdeeper sense of body awareness, self-exploration and interpersonal skills. This fun class encompasses flowing sequences, balancing poses, breathing exercises, partner poses and creative relaxation techniques.

Prenatal Yoga with Tori Jarvis Grant
Starts Thurs. Oct 16 | 7:30 ~ 8:45pm prenatal Yoga flow
       
Prenatal yoga provides multiple benefits such as; preparing the hips, legs and pelvic muscles for childbirth, and improved breath and blood circulation. It is also a great way to meet other soon-to-be mommies and practice as a community!

HypnoBirthing® with Margot Schelew
5 Classes ; Oct.17, 31 Nov. 7, 14, 21 | 6:15pm ~ 8:45pm
 
When to start? When you are 20 weeks or more.

This course teaches deep levels of relaxation to eliminate the fear that causes tension and pain, therefore shortening the first phase of labour. Oxytocin works in synergy with endorphins creating state of euphoria.

Course fee includes instruction and materials. Materials include 2 CDs for Relaxation and Bonding, HypnoBirthing® Text, 5 hypnosis scripts for home practice, and lots of additional handouts.

Applied Anatomy for Yoga Teachers

The workshop is open to yoga instructors and students enrolled in a yoga teacher training program and will be hosted by Heather Stone and Tracy Estey-Willick from Beech Street Health.

 

During this workshop you will gain a deeper understanding of the physical make up the body, increase awareness, grasp terminology and learn how it all assists self-healing.

How do I improve my mobility? What is foam rolling?

Foam rolling is a tool that helps to release tight fascia surrounding overused muscles.

Bring a friend and come learn about spinal mobility, foam rolling and back care. There will be demonstrations, hands on instruction and time to answer questions.
