Greetings!
We don't often send out a second newsletter in a month, but we felt that we needed to help with the research being done on post-adoption depression (see the article below). Please read this request for information below and participate if you've been affected by this disorder. Your participation may help others find a better way to deal with this debilitating disorder.
Happy spring!!! Deborah Cave, COCAF Executive Director and Board President [email protected]
|
Share Your Experience With Post-Adoption Depression
COCAF was contacted by a reporter from a national non-profit website dedicated to the emotional issues surrounding reproductive and maternal health. She is writing a story on post-adoption depression -- what it is, why it happens, and how to get help if you are affected. The reporter is looking for adoptive moms who have experienced this themselves (mild or severe) and who are willing to share their story and be quoted in her article. If you think you can help, email Amanda at [email protected] by Wednesday, April 10. Please give her a short description of what you experienced in the email, and she'll try to set up a time to interview you over the phone. We hope that her article will help other parents going through similar situations relate and hopefully seek help. |

Camp Teen Fundango 2013
The weekend of June 28 - June 30, 2013, Kids at Heart will have its first Camp Teen Fundango. This camp is a 3-day weekend of camping for adoptive, foster, and kinship teens ages 10-16. The weekend will be held at a primitive camp 45 minutes from Fort Collins; an off-the grid, pristine playground where kids discover both the natural world and their own innate skills and confidences. It's packed full of adventures and activities that engage the kids in skill-building, learning, reflection, and growth. Kids at Heart has partnered with EDUCO Leadership Adventures for this adventure weekend. Teens will be challenged to step outside their comfort zone, connect with new and unexpected friends, and discover their sense of self and leadership. Details are being finalized, and will be available at the Kids at Heart website. Click here to go to their website. |
