PROFIsafe Live Demonstration Video
New video about safety-related communication ...
... helps you understand the advantages and performance capability of PROFIsafe. It clearly demonstrates the real-world use of safety-related communication between three fail-safe hosts from different manufacturers. It shows how three machines with different controllers can operate independently or together in a plant. The functional demo shows optical and electromechanical sensors, I/O modules, fail-safe PLC, gateway, and drives. As well as the simple cabling, the entire safety functionality runs over the single cable (PROFINET/PROFIBUS/PROFIsafe).

CERTIFIED PROFIBUS AND PROFINET TRAINING COURSES
PI UK supports certified training run by our two PITCs, Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) and Verwer Training & Consultancy Ltd (VTC). Both organisations are authorised by PROFIBUS & PROFINET International (PI) to deliver PI's certified courses leading to internationally-recognised accreditation as Certified PROFIBUS or PROFINET Engineers or Installers.
Certified PROFIBUS Installer
An essential course for electrical engineers and technicians needing to upgrade their skills to include fieldbus installation. This one-day, hands-on course teaches the design, installation and testing of complete PROFIBUS networks including DP, PA and optical fibre technology. Covering bus layout and termination, grounding rules and practices, the course will teach delegates how to avoid common, but potentially expensive, installation problems.
Next courses:
Sept 19, Location: Manchester, Provider: VTC
Oct 6 Location: Manchester, Provider: MMU
PROFIBUS Commissioning & Maintenance Course
A one-day course designed as an add-on to the Certified PROFIBUS Installer Course, covering the practical techniques of faultfinding on "operational" PROFIBUS networks. Techniques taught on the course include the use of a modern PROFIBUS analyser, Class 1 and Class 2 master functions (engineering tool) to diagnose network faults, device faults and I/O problems. Students also learn how to diagnose and accurately locate cable, connection and device faults.
Next courses:
Oct 7, Location: Manchester, Provider: MMU
Certified PROFIBUS System Designer
This course is aimed at anyone who is dealing with the design, specification or procurement of modern automation and control systems at the engineering or technical level. The course is also suitable for device manufacturers, system integrators and technical sales/marketing people who want to know the best way to put systems together. The course is aimed at the professional engineer level and a basic familiarity with control system terminology and the ability to perform simple engineering calculations is assumed.
Next courses:

Certified PROFIBUS Engineer Course
This is an in-depth course covering PROFIBUS DP and PA network operation, design, commissioning and live fault-finding. The course covers basic cyclic data exchange (so-called DP-V0) and DP-V1 extensions that are used in PA devices and more complex DP devices. Most of the course is involved with understanding and interpreting the various telegrams that pass between devices. It is a world-wide recognised training program, standardised by PROFIBUS International. The Certified PROFIBUS Installer and the Commissioning & Maintenance courses are essential pre-requisites to attending this course.
Next courses:
Sept 20, Location: Manchester, Provider: VTC
Nov 29, Location: Manchester, Provider: MMU

Certified PROFINET Installer
An essential course for electrical engineers and technicians needing to upgrade their skills to include industrial ethernet installation. This one-day, hands-on course teaches the design, installation and testing of complete PROFINET networks and will teach delegates how to avoid common, but potentially expensive, installation problems.
Next courses:
Oct 17, Location: Manchester, Provider: MMU
Nov 28, Location: Reading, Provider: VTC
Certified PROFINET Engineer
This training course provides a detailed technical knowledge of the PROFINET technology and the advantages it offers your automation and production processes. At the end of the training there will be a theory exam. Participants who pass get the title Certified PROFINET Engineer and are awarded an official certificate. Successful participants will have the confidence to evaluate PROFINET as a solution for their automation requirements and be able to design a proper application.

CERTIFIED OPC TRAINING - London and Manchester
With OPC UA (Unified Architecture) now specified alongside PROFINET and IO-Link as a main building block for Industrie 4.0, the need for certified OPC training is even more essential for anyone involved in the development, implementation and operation of systems in the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).
If you would like to learn about OPC UA and get Certified as an OPC Professional, during October there will be an opportunity for hands-on Certified OPC Professional training provided by the highly respected, vendor-independent OPC Training Institute.
The training provides an in-depth study of OPC technology, its DCOM backbone, required security settings, and a lot of practical hands-on troubleshooting techniques and exercises. It is presented as 4 separate modules over the course of a week, each lasting 12 hours. Subject to ability and availability, students can opt to take 1 or more of the modules.
