Cisco adopts PROFINET for "The Connected Factory"
|
|
Here's a brief extract from Cisco's newly published white paper, as recently announced in The Industrial Ethernet Book:
The Cisco Connected Factory - PROFINET solution defines a resilient network architecture for industrial automation applications and devices running on the plant floor, utilizing the MRP protocol as the ring's state-aware protocol. Each of the validated PROFINET architectures consists of industrial automation devices, such as robots, sensors, actuators, and drives.

PROFINET Product Developer Workshop - September 8, Rugby
|
|
We will show you how easy PROFINET is ...
... but hurry, there are only a few places left!
With more than 13 million installed nodes (as of April 2016), PROFINET is the market leader among Industrial Ethernet systems in the automation world. The level of development of PROFINET enables fast and cost-effective implementation in applications. This requires a comprehensive line of products from numerous manufacturers.
The objective of this free-to-attend workshop is to provide information on developing PROFINET products and to present implementation options. The presenter, David Heinze, Product Manager PROFINET, Siemens AG, will explain the basics of PROFINET including variants on the implementation, benefits and certification of PI.

|
Certified PROFIBUS Installer
An essential course for electrical engineers and technicians needing to upgrade their skills to include fieldbus installation. This one-day, hands-on course teaches the design, installation and testing of complete PROFIBUS networks including DP, PA and optical fibre technology. Covering bus layout and termination, grounding rules and practices, the course will teach delegates how to avoid common, but potentially expensive, installation problems.
Next courses:
Sept 19, Location: Manchester, Provider: VTC
Oct 3 Location: Manchester, Provider: MMU
|
|
PROFIBUS Commissioning & Maintenance Course
A one-day course designed as an add-on to the Certified PROFIBUS Installer Course, covering the practical techniques of faultfinding on "operational" PROFIBUS networks. Techniques taught on the course include the use of a modern PROFIBUS analyser, Class 1 and Class 2 master functions (engineering tool) to diagnose network faults, device faults and I/O problems. Students also learn how to diagnose and accurately locate cable, connection and device faults.
Next courses:
Oct 4, Location: Manchester, Provider: MMU
|
|
Certified PROFIBUS System Designer
This course is aimed at anyone who is dealing with the design, specification or procurement of modern automation and control systems at the engineering or technical level. The course is also suitable for device manufacturers, system integrators and technical sales/marketing people who want to know the best way to put systems together. The course is aimed at the professional engineer level and a basic familiarity with control system terminology and the ability to perform simple engineering calculations is assumed.

Certified PROFIBUS Engineer Course
This is an in-depth course covering PROFIBUS DP and PA network operation, design, commissioning and live fault-finding. The course covers basic cyclic data exchange (so-called DP-V0) and DP-V1 extensions that are used in PA devices and more complex DP devices. Most of the course is involved with understanding and interpreting the various telegrams that pass between devices. It is a world-wide recognised training program, standardised by PROFIBUS International. The Certified PROFIBUS Installer and the Commissioning & Maintenance courses are essential pre-requisites to attending this course.
Next courses:
Sept 20, Location: Manchester, Provider: VTC
Nov 29, Location: Manchester, Provider: MMU

Industrie 4.0 and IIoT for Process Automation
|
|
New White Paper shows the way with PROFINET and PROFIBUS PA ...
The chemical industry is well acquainted with networks. Many locations operate in close raw material and energy networks. This is now to be extended to the data level - or at least the measured value level. For it is apparent that analog measured value transmission in chemical plants is often no longer adequate for future tasks. For this reason, the process industry is now openly discussing the topic of Industry 4.0 and the use of Ethernet technologies.
