Friendships in early childhood: do's and don'ts for parents

Children's friendships are unique. They flourish in the moment yet they change unpredictably. If a child is happy, friendships are spontaneous and easy; if he's/she's tired or frustrated, his/her ability to be a friend is seriously handicapped. Learning to be a friend is on-going process of discovery and curiosity. To Keep Reading... Click Here

#3 National Bubble Week

Children of all ages (and adults) should play with bubbles because...

1.  Bubbles are fun and magical!

2.  You can play with bubbles inside and outside!

3.  Bubbles help develop children's skills-

4.  Bubbles are a sensory experience; they are wet, slimy and sticky

5.  Bubbles do not stain clothes or furniture.

Did You Know...

A high quality child care program would encourage a 4 years old child to feel secure enough to try new things.

By age 4, a child usually feels secure enough to move eagerly beyond familiar experiences and try new things. A 4-year-old might become bolder about trying new foods (although it's not unusual for a child this age to be a picky eater), enjoying more challenging activities at the playground (going down a bigger slide or trying to climb higher on the jungle gym), entering a new group and inviting an unfamiliar child to play, or trying to learn a new sport or arts activity. A good program would have staff who would support and encourage the 4-year-old to be a risk-taker, complement them on their efforts and build that security they need to try on their own.
