ATA Gymnastics Newsletter
     June 2016

June is Acro Month
At ATA our team athletes compete in the amazing sport of Acrobatic Gymnastics.  They've been working hard all year and are now in final preparation mode as they complete the season at the National Championships in Providence, Rhode Island June 8th-12th.  The majority of ATA's team athletes started out as recreational students here.  Many were first introduced to the sport during one of our Acro Months.  It has become a tradition in our recreational program to incorporate this fun sport into our regular curriculum three months out of the year.
Acrobatic Gymnastics works so well in a class setting because it's a partner sport and students can perform skills with their classmates.  During Acro Months, instructors will  spend a few minutes of class time teaching foundational acrobatic skills such as thigh stands, shoulder stands, candlesticks & basket tosses.  We have no doubt that your child will have a blast learning and performing Acro!
  •  In addition to Acro Month, we are holding an Acro Clinic on Friday, June 24th from 5:30 to 7:30pm.  Space is limited.  Sign up today!
  •  If you would like more information on our Pre Team or competitive team program, please stop by the front desk.

June 27th-July 2nd Gymsters will get patriotic as we get ready to celebrate Independence Day! Your little firecracker will love collecting lost stars during class to add to ATA's American flag as they tumble through their gymnastics class and practice marching in our Parade!  Make sure to wear your best red, white and blue attire to class this week!

Acrobatic Gymnastics Team

Once again Team ATA was lookin' good at the 2016 California Regional Championships this past month!  Held in Orange, California, the event hosted more than a dozen clubs from California, Arizona and Nevada with an attendance of more than 300 athletes!  It was held in a wonderful, new facility, Santiago Canyon College.  All of our athletes performed with excellence and earned qualifying scores for National Championships!  We were extremely proud of everyone's performances and once again the honor of receiving the level 6 and level 10 Team awards as well as coming in 2nd in the level 8 Team award!  Our athletes are sure to shine even brighter as we wrap up the season at National Championships in Providence, Rhode Island!  We can't believe it's coming to a close!  Everyone has learned and accomplished so much and we are excited to see our athletes on the National stage competing with athletes from all over the US!

ATA's Pre Team looked so amazing at their final event of the season, held here at ATA, Saturday, April 30!  Pairs and Groups had focused on their competition routines and performed to a full house!  This season was one of the largest Pre Team's we have ever had here at ATA, the athletes also proved to be some of the most advanced and we are excited to see where their basic acro learning takes them as we look forward to a new season and tryouts later this summer!

Also, for the second time, ATA hosted an "Acro Clinic"!  It was well attended and athletes had a chance to work on blocks, learn basket pitching and built a large group pyramid at the end!  Don't miss the fun and be sure to sign up for the next Acro Clinic held Friday, June 24th, 5:30-7:30pm.

June's Safety Tip

In order to make sure that all students enter and leave ATA's facility safely, we require that parents/guardians park and come into the building when dropping off or picking up.  Please do not let your children wait outside for pickup.  Also, please be on time.  Let's all do our part to keep our kids safe!

Have a Great Day!
