Character Counts

At ATA, we go beyond cartwheels and handsprings...Our goal is to instill confidence, integrity and a strong work ethic in every student.

During the month of May, all classes will be spending a short period of time each week discussing what it means to be a person of good character. We will be using the Character Counts approach developed by the Josephson Institute. Beginning May 4th and concluding June 1st, students and coaches will focus on a different character trait each week: Respect, Responsibility, Caring and Citizenship.

Our recreational program includes students from the ages of 4 through 18. The curriculum and discussions will be adjusted to match the maturity level of the students. We encourage you to continue the discussion at home each week. Talk with your child about how you and he/she can practically exhibit these character qualities. Bake cookies for your neighbor, pick up trash at the park, draw a picture or write a nice note to your teacher. Often times it's the smallest gestures that can have the greatest impact in another person's life. We hope that a "character counts" mindset will not just last through the month of May, but will continue for a lifetime.  Click here for the May Newsletter.

Gymster Gymnastics

Thank you for coming out and making our Gymster Spring show! We are so proud of all our performers! It was extra fun having the Easter Bunny join us this year for our Egg Hunt and pictures. Look for more performing opportunities for your Gymster this August during Super Star week.

May Theme: Character Counts

This month GymBugs and Jumpers will discuss what it means to be a part of a community. Students will talk about ways we can help our family, neighbors and our environment. GymBees and Gyminee Crickets will enjoy a short skit by ATA staff making specific character traits like respect, responsibility, caring and citizenship easy to understand and implement in their everyday lives! For more information on our monthly theme, skill of the month, Summer adventure hour schedule and more check out our Gymster Gazette by clicking HERE!

Wellness Policy

Partner with us to prevent the spread of germs and to keep ATA staff and students healthy all year long! If your child has been ill in the last 24hrs, has had a fever, vomiting, visible runny nose, or cough please do not bring them to class or Adventure hour. If your child's teacher notices any of the above symptoms they will send your child home for the day. If you have any questions or need to schedule a make-up class for an illness please contact the front desk.

Gym Closed

Please note that ATA will be closed for the Memorial Day Holiday on May 25th.

Please note that makeups are not needed for this scheduled time off, as tuition is based on an average of 4 classes per month over a 1 year period.

Acrobatic Gymnastics Team

Two Jr Elite trios from ATA's International Training Team participated at the 2015 Acro Cup Training Camp this past month, held at Bella Karolyi's National Team Training Camp in Huntsville, TX. More than 120 competitors from all over the country attended this national training camp event. The women's groups of Kaylee Witana, Romina Gupta and Cheyenna Jones and Taylor Witana, Jenny Hull and Caitlynn Guzman performed routines, worked with special clinicians on dance and tumbling and had the opportunity to spend specialized time training to improve their acrobatic skills as they press forward on their journey to compete in the future for Team USA.

The rest of our competition team gears up to compete this coming weekend at State Championships. Some of them participated this past weekend at ATA's Mini Meet, held right here in San Jose. All received qualifying scores and gained more valuable experience for our final, most critical meets!

Pre Team finished up this month showing off their season of training at ATA's Pre Team Meet. Just this past weekend, parents and guests had a chance to cheer on their athletes as they showed individual pair and group routines. This season we had 3 events participating; Mixed Pair, Women's Pair and Women's Group. Everyone did a spectacular job at the final event! We were so proud of how much everyone learned and grew!

Have a Great Day!
