ATA Gymnastics Newsletter
July 2014
July is Rolling Month

We've all seen the action movie star go tumbling down the side of the mountain in the big screen movies.  Somehow they make it look somewhat graceful!  Obviously, we don't do stunt double training at our gym; however, our goal is to teach students to perform skills safely!  That's why July is Rolling Month!  During this month, every class will spend some extra time focusing on skills/drills that involve rolling...straddle forward rolls, pike back rolls, handstand chest roll down, etc.  Students will enjoy learning new and fun variations of the skills they have already been learning in class.  There will also be a big emphasis on safety falls!  It is so important that all students understand and know how to move into and out of skills safely.  Safety falls teach kids how to roll out of a skill in a way that will protect their head, neck and arms.  Beyond learning gymnastics in a fun and challenging environment, one of our main priorities is safety.  We are looking forward to a fabulous month!  Time to roll on in to Rolling Month! Acrobatic Gymnastics Team

All ATA athletes qualified to advance to the 2014 USA Acrobatic Gymnastics Championships held later this month in Louisville, KY.  Region 1 played host to 12 clubs from all over California with even a new club participating from Phoenix, AZ! All the kids did great and now the work is going forth to get ready for our final event of the season!

For some of our athletes, this was the last stop before traveling to France to compete at World Championships outside of Paris!  Over the next few days, athletes from more than 33 countries will participate in this event that takes place every two years.

Three Pair/Groups from Team ATA have earned the privilege of competing and representing USA at the 2014 World Acrobatic Age Group Competition in Levallois, France.  Men's pair, Bryan Allen and Brennan Atsatt, women's group, Shannon and Kaitlyn Kennedy and Kendall Tarvin and women's pair, Samantha Servellon and Madeline Bones are prepared after several weeks of non-stop training to put their best on the floor and compete head to head with the best in the world!  All of these athletes have been training for the past 2 years towards their dream of going to World Championships and now it's a reality!  I'm sure you'll all be wishing them the best of luck at this spectacular event!  If you want to watch all the action live, there are more days of competition left.  Go to the following link and cheer for Team USA and the home super stars!!  Click Here.
