Acrobatic Gymnastics Team
ATA's team program has been very busy the month of November. From Pre Team athletes learning their basics and preparing for Christmas Show performances, to our elite athletes traveling to Great Britain for competition, it's hardly given us time to catch our breath! ATA's Pre Team worked on establishing partnerships and learning elementary acrobatic skills. Dance, individual elements and tumbling were included in their weekly training. Coaches Taryn, Jocelle and Katie have been busy preparing them for their final dress rehearsal the first week in December. I feel certain they are going to shine bright at the annual ATA Christmas Shows. Our advanced team athletes had an opportunity for learning by attending the National Team Training Camp in Houston, TX. Karolyi's National Training Camp hosts the women's gymnastics program as well as Rhythmic, Trampoline/Tumbling and Acrobatic Gymnastics. For several days, athletes were treated to training with talented clinicians and had opportunity to bond with fellow acrobats from around the country. Campers also shared accommodations with wild turkeys, donkeys, camels and the camp dogs! Six athletes from team ATA flew to Manchester, England in mid-November to compete at the first ever Pat Wade Classic International competition. 6 countries and 260 athletes participated in this inaugural event. Countries represented were Great Britain, Australia, Belgium, France, Russia and USA. We were all excited to watch the competition live from home on Livestream.com. Click here for recordings of the event. ATA's men's pair, Bryan Allen and Brennan Atsatt brought home gold with solid, impressive routines! The trio of Shannon Kennedy, Kaitlyn Kennedy and Kendall Tarvin put out strong routines in the women's group 12-18 age group competition. It was a tough division with 12 competitors, but the girls made finals with strong performances in the balance and dynamic routines. We were so proud that they finished out in 6th place! Way to go ATA Athletes and way to represent Team USA! Click here for a copy of the Press Release. |
