ATA Gymnastics Newsletter

May 2013

The school year is quickly coming to an end and at ATA we are very busy preparing fun summer camps and activities.  Read on to see what we're up to!

May is Handstand Month

It seems that some gymnasts prefer spending the majority of their time upside down in a handstand rather than right side up on their feet!  You may have noticed this by the fact that your child doesn't walk down the grocery aisle, but cartwheels down the grocery aisle!  During the month of May, ATA students will be spending plenty of time upside down perfecting one of the most important foundational skills in gymnastics - the handstand.  Click here to get more info on Handstand Month!

Amazing Animals

During the weeks of May 13th through May 25th, all Intro Tumblers will take a walk on the wild side as they tumble into the world of animals!  Click here to check out the fun song that students will learn during circle time.  Practice singing at home with your child!

Achievement Week: June 24th - 29th

Let's celebrate what your children have been learning at ATA!  During the week of June 24-29, all students will get an opportunity to perform a special/favorite gymnastics or acrobatic skill in front of an audience.  Students will then be awarded a one-of-a-kind ATA ribbon!  Family and friends are welcome to come and watch!

Gymster Academy

The Gymster Academy Spring Show this past Saturday was a huge success! Students performed for a huge crowd of friends and family members and even enjoyed an exhibition by our Acrobatic Gymnastics team athletes! We are so proud of everyone's accomplishments this year, Great job!

We would like to welcome our newest member of the Gymster family, Ms. Jeanine Lane! Jeanine's children have attended ATA for years and even competed on our Acrobatic Gymnastics team. If you'd like to get to know Ms. Jeanine check out her profile in our May Gymster Gazette by clicking Here!

This month our youngest Gymsters will be getting in touch with their wild side as they practice moving like animals during circle time, stations and tumble track! For more information about this month's themes for GymBugs, Jumpers, Bees and Crickets classes click here!

Acro Team Update

Congratulations and job well done to our Team members this past month as they competed at the Silicon Valley Classic and performed fun and entertaining group routines for the 18th Annual Spring Celebration Show!  Hard work and intense training produced great results as many of our pair/groups found themselves in the medal count.  Our Developmental and level 8 teams showed off their pair/group balance and dynamic elements and performed entertaining and at times, comedic routines for the Spring Show.  Performing is a crucial part of our team program and all the athletes performed well and enjoyed the experience!  Our Advanced Team athletes were able to use this competition as a dry-run, so to speak.  These talented athletes leave this weekend to compete in an international event in Bulgaria, The Sophia Cup.  Good Luck and best wishes to all of them.  Go Team USA and GO ATA!!!

Our Pre Team athletes performed a fun group routine that showcased their partner balance and dynamic elements.  Even though they are young in this session, they showed great poise and were entertaining to watch and enjoy!  Pre Team will continue into June where the season will end with an in-house competition event!  Pre Team provides an opportunity to teach Acrobatic Gymnastics basics to those athletes that want to broaden their gymnastics horizons.  Many of our high level athletes began in the Pre Team Program and are now representing the US internationally!  We are so proud of what all the kids are learning!
