Welcome to our October/November newsletter.

Meanwhile in Canada......
Having recently returned from buzzy Toronto to an even more hectic London I came across a report called
which benchmarks the competitiveness of 120 cities across the world.
The Economist Intelligence Unit defines a city's competitiveness as its ability to attract capital, businesses, talent and visitors. Eight categories are considered including economic strength, financial maturity, global appeal, social and cultural character, and environment. London comes only second to NYC in this index followed by Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Sydney.
Meanwhile in Canada - the focus of this month's newsletter, Toronto has been ranked as one of the best cities in North America for business investment. fDi Magazine (2013), published by the Financial Times Ltd., ranked Toronto in second place after New York City in the categories of "Overall North American Cities of the Future 2013/14." Toronto also placed second after New York City as a major North American city for business friendliness.
What they didn't look at unfortunately are the fantastic places to eat from the steaming chicken pakoras Hakka style at Federicks in Markham (why has no one thought to bring this over?) to mouth watering fish tacos and Jesus Juice at Grand Electric in Parkdale and the equally tantalising Spaghetti in Canna a Mare at Terroni on Adelaide. Now that's a list I would like to see.
This month we are focusing on our cross border UK and Canadian legal services and you will find below links to a Fortune Law article plus some of our preferred partners based in Toronto setting out their profiles and a short synopsis of their services.
If you have any queries or need advice in relation to any of the matters set out in this newsletter or any other legal issues, do not hesitate to call us on
020 3102 6372 or e-mail us at enquiries@fortunelaw.com. We are always happy to help.

Coming from an entrepreneurial background, the founders of Marani Law maintain a strong focus on client-oriented values in order to establish personalized, trustworthy and lasting relationships with each and every one of our clients. In order to ensure that we maintain open lines of communication and a sound understanding of each of our clients' needs, from the outset, we set aside time to get to know each client and their expectations prior to opening their file.
We offer niche services to Canadian and UK business clients who are ready to expand their business across the Atlantic as we are dually qualified to advise in the UK and Canada.
How can you best help your clients?
With specific regard to our UK/Canada clientele: Whereas larger firms offer international services, they cannot offer the personal service of a smaller firm; but if clients prefer to work with smaller firms, they generally have to hire two separate teams working on either side of the Atlantic, which means higher costs than working with one legal team. As a smaller firm with an entrepreneurial spirit, we offer all of our clients a personalised service. Our niche UK-Canada clientele have the added benefit of full business legal services in the UK and Canada, allowing them to spend less time and money worrying about their legal needs so that they can concentrate more on their businesses.
