New Food Pantry Format Offers Client Choice

The big move is complete and the new CAC Food Pantry opened this week! Relocated back to the ground level of CAC, the new food pantry offers a shopping format, where clients shop for their food much like a typical grocery store. This new format allows clients more choice of food for themselves and their families and eliminates the food pantry "line." Using vouchers, clients can select non-perishable and fresh foods rather than be given pre-packed bags and interact with volunteers through service windows. Volunteers are on-hand to assist, restock shelves and for "check out." The new format also encourages less waste by giving clients more control over the food they receive. As always, all food in the pantry is donated so inventory varies daily. A significant portion is donated by stores and restaurants and is brought to CAC by Second Helpings volunteers daily.

Who Do You Turn to for Help in Times of Need?

CAC serves as a safety net to prevent homelessness and hunger for individuals and families of Sandy Springs and Dunwoody who find themselves in need of help and have no where else to turn. CAC provides financial assistance for rent and utilities for those who have experienced a loss of income, for example due to a job loss, wage cut or medical emergency.
