The CAC Tools for School campaign is underway to provide new backpacks and school supplies for 1,000 local children! Donate online for Tools for School and your dollar goes further to help more children. Your donation of $35 provides for two backpacks with school supplies! Many Gave Food and Had Fun!
The weather Gods were on our side this year and many folks came out to give food and have fun at the 3rd annual CAC Food `n Fun Festival on Saturday, May 2 at North Springs High School! Through the 2 week community-wide food challenge leading up to the festival, 39 teams competed against each other and collected 27,742 pounds of food and more is coming in! That's enough food for the CAC Food Pantry to provide for 1,000 families over 2 months. Festival sponsor donations raised approximately $30,000 to help neighbors in need! Thank you to all of the sponsors, teams that competed in the various events, festival partners and members of the community who contributed and attended to make the Food `n Fun Festival great! See you next May! -- 2015 Food `n Fun Festival Photo Gallery --

Thanks of Note
CAC often receives thank you notes from local families and individuals who have received assistance. While they see the people who serve them, we know the thanks goes out to all of the donors, volunteers and supporters of CAC.
To CAC: Wow!! What a great service to the community! Thank you so much for being an agency with so much integrity and decency to the public that you make provisions for. I'm so thankful and grateful for the food supply that you have given me over the past 6 months. The cheerful smiles of the volunteers are magical. You are all #1 in my book. Thanks with all my heart.

Religious congregations continue to be a mainstay of support for CAC. Many took part in the Food `n Fun Challenge to collect food to distribute to families this summer including Sandy Springs Christian Church, Congregation Or Hadash and Northwest Unitarian Universalist Church. For the 6th year in a row St. John United Methodist Church set out to provide meals to neighbors in need through Project Feed 5000. The Lenten charitable activity is based on the Bible story in which Jesus blessed five loaves of bread and two fish that multiplied to feed 5000. The results were 156 boxes of food packed to provide multiple meals per family! The boxes were blessed at the altar on Easter before being sent to CAC and counted toward the Food `n Fun Challenge!

You can give children of local families in need lunches this summer by giving a Summer Lunch Bag through CAC. For most kids summer is a time for vacation fun. But for families on a tight budget summers are stressful with increased costs for childcare and food to feed children when they are home from school. In Sandy Springs, more than 50 percent of public school students qualify for the federal lunch program, and in Dunwoody almost 20 percent qualify, meaning those kids can eat at school twice a day for free. Through generous donors, CAC works to help these families by providing summer lunches for kids and back packs with school supplies for the start of school. A CAC Summer Lunch Bag helps families offset increased grocery costs by providing children with lunches for a week. A Summer Lunch Bag contains 5 kid-friendly lunches and costs about $35. Donate food items from the list or assemble a bag or more!
A CAC Summer Lunch Bag contains:
5 juice boxes
5 snack bars
5 fruit cups 4 oz.
1 box of mac & cheese
1 can pasta meals (i.e. SpaghettiOs)
1 tuna & crackers pack
1 instant yakisoba and 1 chili bowl.
Assemble items in a 2.5 gallon Ziplock bag.
