Help the Pantry at the Parade
The CAC Food Pantry is currently low on critical items such as canned vegetables, tuna/canned meats, canned pastas, cereal, baked beans, peanut butter and jelly. It's easy to help by donating at the Dunwoody 4th of July Parade! Bring non-perishables to the parade and watch for Boy Scout Troop 764 from St. Luke's Presbyterian Church as they push grocery carts along the parade route collecting food! Last year the scouts collected more than $500 worth of food from parade-goers. The parade kicks off Friday, July 4, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. at Mt. Vernon Rd and Jett Ferry Rd.

Compassionate Assistance
On a recent Saturday afternoon, CAC volunteers and staff were about to close for the day when an older gentleman arrived at the door asking if we were still open. The volunteer without hesitation smiled and invited the downtrodden man inside. He was in a financial bind, and needed assistance, but he admitted he didn't want to come to CAC for help because he was ashamed. To his surprise, he was met with kindness and compassion at CAC. The volunteer asked the food pantry to stay open for him, gave him vouchers for clothes and began the financial assistance application process. The man was so thankful he was almost in tears. He asked the volunteer why are people at CAC so nice? She responded, 'That's what we're here for.'

Help 1,000 Kids Prepare for School
You can help prepare 1,000 local children for school with the tools they need to learn by donating new backpacks and school supplies to CAC! The Back-to-School program provides new backpacks filled with school supplies per grade free to children of families in need. This summer CAC is seeking 1,000 new backpacks and school supplies to distribute to local students. A portion of the school supplies is being funded by an anonymous donor from Holy Innocents' Episcopal Church and matching donations for the third consecutive year. Backpacks and additional supplies are needed. Please bring new supplies and large, heavy-duty backpacks to CAC or make a donation online. For more information and a complete list of needed supplies visit www.ourcac.org.

The Power of One
My name is Caitlin and I am 13 years old. I live in Sandy Springs and attend Ridgeview Charter School. I am in the Jr. Beta Club and I was trying to think of something that I could do that would make a small difference but my friends could also do and when we all did it, it would make a big difference. My mom suggested I do a food drive. I made flyers and emailed them to my neighbors and put one at my neighborhood pool. The word spread and I received over 500 items of food! I decided to donate them to CAC because when I was a Girl Scout we would go to CAC and sort food and give out sometimes. It really felt good to donate food and then know where it's going. I can't wait until I get another opportunity to host another food drive for CAC!
